I've used this software for several years now and it maps onto my needs and skills quite well. As with any new tool, it does take a little getting used to. But the basic interview format, coupled with the ability to jump around and clear up misunderstandings or insert info I didn't have on my desk during the first pass, and even look at where on the forms the info is actually put, fits my style. Sure beats trying to work with a carbon unit. And then it does all the arithmetic for you, transferring all the info from the federal to the state returns. In the end I've never had a problem, or even a question from either the feds or the state. I get my refunds within a couple weeks of filing and pay what I owe at the last moment.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast
I have used this software for a number of years now and find it mostly easy to use and friendly to the user. However, as a writer (not self-published) trying to interpret what business expenses are ones I can claim is not well explained. This year, for the first time, the state has flagged my return for review. There is very little difference between this year's filing and previous years, no explanation from the reviewer, and no way for me to find out what's going on. Can the taxware help? I'm not sure. All checks on the return were free of errors, so I feel like I'm in limbo.
I have been using this for several years. I replaced TurboTax which became too pricey. Good format overall. But I have difficulty finding where I need to go if I have to return to a section.
