I have been using H&R Block software for about 7 years and I love it. It is so easy to use and if you don't understand something, it is explained within the program, plus they give you other resources to go to if you need to.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I used the e-file for the first time and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to submit my tax info and the quick follow up showing my info had been received at the IRS office.

cumbersome, no current updates, printing bad, did not have all the current AZ state forms (form 348) yet it appears on one of the state schedules
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
Won't link with past year's returns from the online version. Will not flag simple errors at federal level but will at State. Navigation is terrible, one edit causes you to click back through the entire process because it doesn't remember where you were. Has not improved in the 5+ years since I first used it.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
H&R Block has an interface that is not user friendly, lacking the clarifications and guidance seen in Intuit, Freedom Tax, and other tax products. The additional cost for state software and e-filing quickly adds up to what you’d pay a CPA, while simultaneously taking more of your time. I do not recommend this product, especially if you live in IL.
I moved last year and chose H&R Block based on its ability to accommodate tax filing in multiple states. This software was unable to meet identity verification for first-time filers in IL, after I was already charged additional state tax software and e-filing for GA. Instead, I was able to file my IL taxes for free through the state’s own website/portal, which also had better explanations.
My main gripe is this software accomplished nothing over its competitors, while charging more for those services at all junctures and somehow still being less clear and more cumbersome than any other tax service.
Wouldn't let me file state without paying twice :|

I paid for H&R Block Tax Software Deluxe + State, which should have included state taxes. When I tried to file my state taxes, the software charged me *again*.
