I bought the Federal and state programs like I have done for the past few years. This year I had a problem with the state program it was showing that I owed over 1000.00 to the state. I then put all the same information in the free state web site program and got a refund of 121.00 dollars. Not sure what I did but it worked out in the end.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does a good job with taxes with a few minor problems….i want to be able to view the return without all the worksheets like we used be able to. It is very disconcerting. Also if I discover something later, I have a hard time getting back to right question for the topic to change my answer.

An error due to unclear instructions during the 1040-SR calculation of my estimated tax line led to a $1200 error in my federal income tax payment. H&R Block program claimed my return was wonderful and without errors. Cost me penalty and interest to pay the IRS and I'll have to file an smended return to the government.
Will consider another firm in the future.
Also, the state return filing should be included in the purchase price and not cost extra after all your work on the forms are completed; the old bait and switch routine.

Fails at providing origin of many Federal software entries. Especially true for State returns. Not enough software help when clicking on an entry. The origing of some software entries are lost in a labyrinth.

State preparation (MD) not as good as it should be. I was penalized for interest in my state return because I didn't include a necessary STATE form. I expected the H&R program to more actively tell what state forms to submit. I may get this corrected, but it's a waste of my time.
