Have used this software for several years. I do not have a complicated return but the instructions include many questions to remind the user the many things to consider whn completing the tax forms. Identifies any potential errors or missing information.
1. The way for taxpayers to load data from previous tax return to make a return for current year is not expressly guided. 1. I paid my tax owed by direct debit from my bank account. Routing and Account numbers were filled up. After e-filing, I found these 2 numbers were not shown on my return. And a voucher was printed for me to pay tax. Worried about direct debit was unabled, I sent a check and the voucher to IRS. 10 days later, the check was cashed by IRS. But one day later, I found a direct debit was made to my bank account. To avoid double payments, I stopped the direct debit. Late IRS demand tax payment from me. I replied IRS that tax has been paid by check. I don’t know if IRS still demands tax payment from me later on. It’s the program error that costed me time and effort.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've been using H&R Block tax software for many years and have never felt the need to try any others. It's easy, very straightforward, and I know I can trust then. The only thing that could be improved is the error checking, specifically the alerts. Once they are viewed maybe they should not keep coming up when you recheck. Not a big deal but slightly annoying.
I had to mail in my return because the software did not include form 8911, with is primarily commercial but is required for consumer credit related to installation of electric vehicle charging equipment.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
