Livable problems: Downloaded successfully Stock Capital Gains & Losses TXF file to program but it did not load into forms. It has done so in prior years (many years).
State income taxes on Federal Fund. Need to more clearly differentiate between "estimated state tax payments" versus state tax payments made with an extension. Can result in double dipping on state return.
PDF Printer did not work...... always saved a 3 year old state tax return. I couldn't find how I could reinstall the printer to see if that would help.
My only complaint is that during the accuracy review which must be completed before filing your return its not easy to figure out here the error is on the form and/or to fix the issue. There is no instruction on what the issue is that must be fixed.
I have been using H&R Block software for over 10 years. Many years ago I used Turbo Tax but I found the H&R Block easier to use and more comprehensive. I have not gone back since using the H&R Block
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Have been using this software when it first came on the market (do not remember how many decades ago), and never had to consider migrating to somebody else.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Fast
This is really good software. The only complaint I have is about the help system. Among the many help nits, it shows in the upper left, that the last entry had a decrease of $XX. Beside it is a View Details link. You would think details about the decrease or increase, right... not even. And it is like this in many parts of the program. I needed help on a particular form, so I clicked the link, and it said something __like__ this is where your form xxxx would go and nothing about what the form was for. I had to go Google it and got conflicting results.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import
I've used the fed and state software for about a decade. It's been gradually improved, particularly in the coordination of fed and state info, to the point where for simpler returns it's faultless. For more complicated cases (K1s, trusts, partnerships, non-resident), it's vastly better, but you still need to check that the info from the fed is correctly entered in the state (the worksheet info is sometimes duplicated). But verifying and fixing an occasional double entry is far better than attempting to locate and populate all the specific forms/worksheets manually.
