Makes doing taxes relatively easy.

I have been using H&R Block software for about 14 years and each year it seems to get easier, probably partly my learning curve and partly a constantly improving product.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast

Prefer this over TurboTax

Took advantage of the HRB free tax software offer this year. I had already bought TurboTax. Completed my taxes using TurboTax, then completed them using HRB. Both packages computed the exact same return. So all things being equal, I definitely preferred HRB tax software. Seems like the HRB software is more streamlined, efficient and less confusing. Preparing my return with HRB was extremely easy.

Very Happy I Did

It is easy to use. The software has many features that you can use although I only used a few. I didn’t have to read thru a lot of technical stuff. The software walked me through the process and I file my taxes on time without hassle.

Good, but needs improvement

I trade Stocks & Futures as my business. H&R Block does recognize 1256 contracts but does not have the functionality to claim more than $3,000 in carry-over losses to offset current year gains. This is a major problem for someone who has opted for the "Trader in Securities" status. This missing feature causes me to have to pay for an accountant who understands this IRS work classification. H&R Block needs to include the ability to elect to draw from carryover losses.beyond $3,000.
