Excellent Tax Preparation Software

Makes filing easy. The payment for State filing was a little confusing. Just pay the fee with your personal plastic.

I have been a long-time user of this software and forerunners (>9 years). I am generally happy with the functionality and results for Federal 1040 filings, with a few exceptions. One drawback is the inability to select SPECIFIC brokerage account numbers when downloading consolidated reports and transactions. (In contrast, Turbo-Tax does offer this functionality, at least from Charles Schwab). The second issue is that sometimes H&R Block software forces you to download and fill out a challenging IRS form and then enter the data - the calculations are done outside of the software and there is not any guidance for this entering the numbers into the H&R Block "box" within the program itself (I don't know if TurboTax would require the same amount of effort of not). These two issues likely affect <5% of filers but do impact me.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to import
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund

I've been using this software for more than a decade and have had very few problems.
I highly recommend H&B Block for doing the miserable task of having to file tax returns.

Needed to redo one schedule for filing. Could not print that one page. Clicked on selected forms to print, but it printed all the forms again. Too many sheets and paper waste. Fix it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I am an expatriate who needs to file every year. Your ordering form does not allow for delivery to addresses outside the USA, nor does it accept payment from credit cards from outside the USA. That is very, very stupid.
Also, your interface to forms 8938 is simply the worst. "Fill the form". What do I need a software if you simply tell us to fill the form?
Cons: Time consuming

Straight forward Tax Filing

Second year in a row with HR Block and I must say it becomes so easy, no thinking required! HR Block does all the thinking for you and stays within the latest laws for tax filing. No surprises and extra charges like most other tax filing systems do.
