Limitations

I have used H&R Block software for 4 years. Seems like each year there are more and more limitations. I have yet to successfully eFile a State return. Main gripe is the space limits for descriptions. What? Why?
Pros: Easy to import
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

Been using this for 20 years

This software recognizes prior years and imports all prior forms used to make it a breeze to update for current year. However, this year they made it almost "too easy" and defaulted to selections that did not apply to us. We could not "uncheck" their default boxes, though Lord knows I tried! There was also some confusion about what to do with non-cash donations. First there was a form, then no form, then a form again, and finally no form. Very confusing. I like the running total of tax owed/refund due, but it didn't always update properly and I got a couple of surprises when it did finally update. However, it really makes doing our own taxes SO much easier. Otherwise we'd have to pay someone.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import
Cons: Hard to fix issues

Everything was great and my e-files were accepted. Then for a very simple and straight forward return way is the IRS holding up my return and doing an audit.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

I RAN MY FIGURES & GOT A REFUND AMOUNT. RAN THEM AGAIN, AND GOT DIFFERENT REFUND AMOUNT

HRB has the best tax preparation software that I have ever used. It provides and easy and thorough step by step process. Help and explanations are available at ever step.

1st time using it and it was amazing. This was better than TURBO Tax which was what I use to use.

Can't file electronically for reasons beyond anyone associated with Block, it seems. I don't need data entry on E line 23a, but the program thinks I do. No prompts for state carry forward of capital losses, confusing method of adjusting cost basis on sales not reported on 1099B. At least 5 tech support chats (tax theory) made more difficult by inability to understand instructions and information going both ways - phone would be much quicker and accurate.
