Importing last year's return makes it so fast, but still inspires confidence that I'm not missing anything important.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Easy to use

I've been using H&R Block program even when it was called TaxCut for over 20 years. It is easy to understand, if you questions, the search is excellent. It doesn't generate unnecessary papers like some of the other programs do.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I still find that some instructions are incorrect. For example when importing from Quicken Software the instructions provide a path which is inerror. The menu option to create a Tax Summary Report is not on the main menu but on a sub menu to a sub menu of the main "Reports" menu item.
Cons: Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

Could not figure out how to skip filing an extension. The alerts "go To" button did nothing, and I never eliminated the alerts on my 1099s
Cons: Hard to import documents

The state return part is very bad

The state return for MN missed M15 form and I have to calculate by hand or let state to figure out penalty. Also, my state return was rejected twice and the software does not provide enough information on where to fix it. Then, I have to file state return on paper.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

2018 Version is Defective

Have used for many years. This year's has several flaws and is extremely difficult to use. Could not trace back to source of data in many places. Allowed inputs of very bad data and even created duplicates of income inputs. Took only a few hours to input but several days to check, validate and correct data. Even had to do my own Est Tax calculations because software would only allow even payments, with no override. Had to ask for my money back.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poorly done. Getting worse every year.

Two major complaints. 1) Does not reveal the amount of the service fee for online payment. It is 2.5% through pay1040. This adds up quickly and in my case is unreasonable. 2) Colorado State prep and payment is abysmal. Instructions for payment tell me "go to the colorado gov site and follow instructions there." THAT"S THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS SOFTWARE, HRB.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare
