Best Tax Software on the Market

I have been using the H&R Block Software since 2013. Before that I usually had someone else do it , or used Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax seemed cumbersome and not as intuitive when compared to H&R Block's offering. The software itself is very easy to use, asks all the correct questions each year, stays up to date during tax season and beyond, and every year, like clockwork, I receive a new CD with all I need to get setup again. I simply spin up the CD, make the purchase I need typically using a provided code that offers me a great loyalty discount, then it installs and is ready to go.
It uses my previous year's filing to pre-populate information making the experience simple and fast. It allows me to commit multiple tax filings as tests to which allows me to try multiple configurations to ensure I am making every effort to get the best return possible, and to help me ensure accuracy of my returns. I always complete two returns. This helps me feel more comfortable that I am submitting correct data that matches across both returns. There are so many other great features such as testing for accuracy, and providing a live person for situations such as errors or problems that may arise, and most importantly audits. Once your return is complete, you get multiple free submission codes, so you can not only do your taxes, but maybe your children's, or even a friend's or a coworker's. The bottom line is the H&R Block offering is simply the best. There is too many great things for me to review in this post. I highly suggest at the very least giving it a try.

Still the tax return software to use

H&R Block continues to put out a quality, easy to use, reliable and complete tax return software program. It will import your previous information, any tax preparation or book keeping data you use, and walk you step by step through your return. It asks all the right questions. Provides all the answers or links to the IRS you could need, when you want them, not just after you enter a auditable value. It provides the security of backing the calculations made with legal assistance if you are audited. Now that doesn't mean they're helping you if you enter erroneous or false information, but they are there to help defend you if the IRS says you made a calculation error. But the best part, not only have they made a program that does everything I've said, but they also have done it at the best price in the industry. I used to use the other leader, still get emails from them to return, but 3 years ago I switched. Loved the difference then and I love it still.

Federal tax works fine. Virginia state tax different story. If you print your state tax for filing, not all of the federal tax id’s do not print out which caused the state tax to be returned to me for additional info (must include 1099R’s which is the data that does not print).

Even after multiple years if having the pc standalone versions the importing seems glitched at best and the transition between state and federal even more buggy on importing current and past information both.
Pros: Easy to install, Maximizes refund
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to import
