Didnt submit the first time!

I bought the program, went through the whole thing, printed it and submitted but it didn't submit! Didn't save either! Now I am here 3 months later and I had to do the whole thing over and might have to pay late fees for not filing on time.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to import
Pros: Easy to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

On a New Jersey return for a family member the gross income was $7,113 with a standard deduction for a partial year. Your software calculated that no tax was due when in fact $97 was due. An underpayment notice was received from New Jersey.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Fails to import correct AGI & PIN from previous year(s) - IRS REJECTED E-Filing

Please allow me to start off by stating I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Management and Organizational Development. With that said, I have used H&R Block Premium at Home Software since 2010. My wife and I filed with H&R Block Software in 2011 without issue. However, our 2012 taxes were never filed due to being rejected by the IRS for an "Incorrect AGI or Pin Number" which the H&R Block Software imported from it's own software from our 2011 taxes. The status upon E-Filing our 2012 taxes 1st showed the status; "Sent to IRS". I was unaware of the failure of the H&R Block software in part, because I am a wounded warrior from the 1st phase of the ground war in Iraq; and have spent the better part of the last three year's in & out of VA Hospitals, and due to real surgery have had long recovery periods. As a result, the software status never changed from sent to rejected until a year later; the only way I found out was when I called the IRS to request tax transcripts to send to our lawyer for a product liability suit that caused me another physical injury. Additionally, we could not E-file our 2013 taxes, because 1. 2012 was never filed, 2. we could not request a new pin because of reason 1. So, now we are going to be facing enormous late and interest penalties because H&R Block's Software failed to handshake from one year to the next. So, I cannot recommend their products in good faith. It has cost us too much, by putting our faith in H&R Block's at Home software, so please be very careful if you choose to utilize their tax preparation software. I wish we had any positive information to report, however in making every attempt and effort in discussing this with them, has not facilitate any type of desired result or end state.

Cons: Hard to import, Hard to fix issues, untimely status report(s)

DON'T DOWNLOAD!!!

The software itself is fine. I have used it for over 10 years, since it was TaxCut. But don't download the software!!! It is loaded with bundled malicious software by Crawler and others. I had to the Geek Squad to remove it all, as Control Panel could not remove it.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: malicious bundled software
I would recommend this to a friend!

Far too difficult and complicated to enter data

I have used this SW for 7 years now. It started out to be very time consuming and confusing to use, usually taking about 4 to 5 days to complete the awkward H&R Block "Interview" process to enter our all our income data from our various retirement income sources (social security and our six or so retirement saving investment accounts).
Over the 7 years, the basic HRB data entry Interview process has not been improved or changed, and has stubbornly remained extremely inefficient because of the endlessly redundant interview questions. So even with my years of experience the SW data entry still takes many days to complete.
Moreover, every year I also find the SW very confusing to use, because it doesn't let you know what income sections are yet to come and in what order. As I recall, it starts out asking for state tax payments, then asks for 1099-INT, and then the complicated K-1 forms, and1099-DIV, and our 1099-R retirement forms, before finally asking about our social security income. All this requires the SW user to wade through hundreds of pages of redundant questions about what are in the common boxes 1a, 1b, 2,3 etc.
Why don't you substitute a simpler spreadsheet-table form for much more efficient data entry of the information in our standard1099-XXX boxes?
The recent adoption by HRB of a data "import" process from Financial Institutions is an unacceptably risky alternative for the customer. This is because of the massive vulnerabilities of today's internet to criminals and hackers of all stripes who are likely to eventually compromise the security of our accounts. It certainly shouldn't ask for our customer IDs and passwords to our accounts!
A spreadsheet data-entry table is also much more useful tool for the customer to use to review and double-check the accuracy of all his year-end income data. The SW should also him to print a copy of that Income Summary Table for his own records.

I have used H&R Block for over 5 years and would buy no other. It is easy to use - Just follow directions and you will have no problems. It's quick and accurate.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

Where's the download?

Been a customer waaaaaaaaaaaaay back since Evergreen Software. I renew every year and enjoy this product. This year I got a CD in the mail with a coupon to purchase. I did but it went thru an install and there is no download file. Of course, no indication of this until AFTER I paid. I use these in successive years at times. If I'm made to purchase a download file which is installable I'll eject this product for something else.
Pros: Easy to fix issues, Easy to import, Fast
