2016 was the first year with high deductible health insurance and a health savings account at work. I was a little concerned about how the H&R Block software would handle Form 8889 and the worksheet within the IRS instructions. So, I worked through the extremely cryptic IRS form offline in parallel with the software and wound up with the same results. . One thing that I never liked about tax software is that it rounds everything to whole dollars. I realize that this is all the IRS requires. But, as an engineer I'd prefer the precision if the software would handle dollars and cents.
I have used this product for a few years now, no complaints about the software. I paid more online than I would have in a local store. As a returning customer there should be an incentive to remain loyal and to purchase online early.
Pros: Easy to install, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
I've used H&R Block Deluxe for several years now and it's worked well until this year. I worked on entering info over the past week and a half and tonight I was going to finish and send it off and it would not let me into the program. Came up with a message that said "File header Block not found" Tried several things which did not work so I ended up re-entering all my info again. Did not call customer support as google reviews were mixed on getting any help with this problem. Needless to say I was pretty disappointed with what happened this year. Problem needs to get corrected before next year or I will use a different tax program.
Cons: Hard to fix issues
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import
My retirement comes from GM, but is paid to me by an Investment Co. Software automatically assumed its an IRA and wants information i dont have. Took a while to get it to straighten out.
