I'm SO used to the H&R Block tax software that I don't think I could use any other. I have few complaints with it other than a FEW questions require you to know the terminology which I don't always understand. That said, I muddle thru it.
I have a MAJOR heartburn, however, with the PRINT FORMS function. I like to keep a copy of the Form 1040 and Sched A and B (in prior years) but ... when I go to print it, it wants to print EVERYTHING!!! In 2018, something has changed and the forms don't even look the same. I had to print 8 pages just to print the Form 1040. I would like to print one side of it at a time, as well.
PLEASE upgrade your print function. Allow ME to decide what I want to print, or not.
I'm rating you at 5 overall but if this print problem doesn't get fixed, it's going down next year.
Pros: Easy to import documents, Fast

Great product but....

I downloaded the program to my “C” drive and all went well.... then I had a terrible problem trying to open the program. It kept asking me for my username and password and I tried many combinations until it blocked me out. Then it asked me for my email and it said they could not find me which was strange since I filed last year and have used your product annually since 1993. In frustration I closed the program down and low and behold there was the icon for H&R Block 2018 on my desktop. I opened the program and it brought up all the information from last year’s filing and I was off and running with no problems from that point on...yet the installation program insisted that they had no record of me as a customer...very strange.
I would rate your product 5 stars but only 1 star for downloading ease.

The planing section lacks detail, especially when determining the amount of SS that will be taxable when developing AGI

Cost-effective

I used this program for many years. This year there was an irritating glitch when I tired importing my investment data. That was successful, but everytime I tired to close the window, the whole program shut down! I had to import everything manually when I couldn't import it after three times without closing the window causing the HRB program to shut down!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

This software is too complicated

For someone who has limited deductions and lower income, the software is very complicated for simple returns. It asks some complicated questions that don't really contribute to the accuracy of the filing. It does s poor job of trying to record IRA withdrawals. I was confused with my withdrawals. It asks about IRA withdrawals at the beginninh of income then as an after thought asks about the RMD withdrawals required for those over 70.5. As a result i entered 1 withdrawal twice and had to correct it.
Why can't you just asks what forms the client has and enter that data like SS Income, received interest 1099R etc. Then ask for deductions without all the forms technical questions. The form data will determine where the data appears on the complete tax form. If someone is over 70.5 will determine the income withdrawals from an IRA. Too many technical questions are asked regarding specific entries that mesn nothing to the person filling out the forms. Will try a different software next year for simplicity's sake.
