The Basic version is easy to use and comprehensive enough for my use, even though I have K-1s, capital gains and business income. It is very inexpensive, and the 5 free federal filings is great! I share it with my kids.

In general, this can be used effectively by anyone who can read and understand basic instructions. I used Turbotax years ago and they tried to force me to install some software that I didn't want. H&R block has been my go-to software for personal tax calculations.

I've been using H&R Block Basic for years. I have a relatively simple tax return and it handles everything easily. As long as you remember to enter all your various 1099s, it's almost impossible to make a mistake and the error checking feature will let you know if you do.

I wanted to complete my taxes and submit them in February, but one form was delayed twice before being finalized. This not only delayed my federal refund, but also my state & local filings.
The form was finally made available 2 days before I left the country for an extended period. I had to scramble - Very stressful !
