[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unboxing and setting up the Samsung 49” Odyssey G9 DQHD Gaming Monitor was a breeze. My initial impression of size, form and fit and finish was a little overwhelming in all the right ways. It’s big in the right places, shiny in the right places and refined in the right places. I wanted to capture my initial thoughts and I will continue with my experience over the first couple days.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start with the size of this monitor. It is huge. It has a nice, slim profile so there is plenty of room for keyboard, speakers and whatever you use. When first purchasing I didn’t expect this to have built on speakers, well it does and it makes it a lot easier for our setup. We do have external speakers, but they are used with other monitors so this was the perfect scenario in our case. The built in speakers deliver pretty decent sound, there is no cracking or noises that shouldn’t be there. The same goes for music, it’s clear and we encountered no problems. Another plus was the super easy setup. It walks you right through it and is done in less than ten minutes. You get access to apps just like a smart tv would give you, so you can watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube etc without jumping through hoops or needing a keyboard to access them. We mainly use the centered screen, but switching to split screens is super easy and just a couple clicks away. It has one mini hdmi port, and two regular ones next to the computer ports you’d expect. So far we are really happy with this monitor and it is by far exceeding our expectations.

Going to need a bigger desk

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I will go through the pro's and con's on this monitor. Pro's are the brightest colors and the darkest blacks make gaming incredibly immersive. Set up was quick and easy. Easy transition from gaming to watching streaming services with built in apps. Con's are how much heat it puts off. I don't have my monitor against a wall but if it was it would radiate heat back at me and that would make me uncomfortable. It is not true 4K so if you are looking for that you might be disappointed with this monitor.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have no idea where to start with this review, because there is so many great things to say. Let's first address the size at 49" i love the fact that I can see and read it without my glasses. I adore the curvature of the screen as on my desk I feel as it wraps me putting me directly into the screen. Although it's a gaming computer I use it mainly for crafts but it's a life savor as with the crispness of the picture you clearly see every detail. I feel most importantly that this is a must buy item as it can double as a tv,watching netflix on it again you feel like your in the movie as the screen wraps you the sound quality is amazing you really will feel as you're there.

A beast

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This monitor is a beast! Does everything I would want and more. The 240hz refresh is insane and I can really tell the difference from my old setup. The blacks are great and color seems to pop right of the screen and it only gets better when you turn on HDR. With the ultra wide resolution and 1800r curve you are immersed in whatever game you are playing. The monitor does have a power brick but it keeps everything clean on the desk. The stand is great with a huge level of adjustment both up and down but with tilt as well. Overall just a great upgrade from my dual 27” monitor set up more then enough room for gaming and for any more productive activities. I’m never going to go back to a “normal” monitor at this point.

The Best New Monitor for my Space

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This monitor is awesome! The first thing I did was connect my computer to it and see how it felt editing on the massive screen. I really love the clarity of the images on this monitor. I love the fact that the Core lighting has a sync option that allows the light to match whatever you're watching on the screen. The Airplay feature was an unexpected surprise. I connected my phone immediately and was able to still watch my favorite shows on the screen. The workspace hub and gaming hub are really cool. I like that I'm able to connect my controller wirelessly and play games with the apps on the monitor. I can't wait to start streaming on this monitor. I know it's going to make the experience so much more enjoyable.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm coming to this monitor from what I thought was a "big" monitor (at 32in). This one is so much bigger, I had to rearrange my desk to fit it. I am still getting used to the different form factor. This monitor is long but has a "standard" height, whereas my old monitor is taller, its all about rearranging windows to better fit the new space.
The colors are vibrant and the blacks are deep, this is a great OLED panel. I have played Diablo IV, City Skylines 2, Starfield, and Last Epoch on this monitor and it really enhances the experience!
I have had fewer chances to try out some of the "smart TV" style features, but it was very easy to set up. Linux had no trouble detecting it.
I have been troubleshooting some minor issues that seem to pop up right after waking the computer and logging into the desktop. For the first few minutes to 15ish minutes the screen will sometimes momentarily turn completely black, then almost immediately go back to normal. Additionally I have had a few instances, which I show in one of the pictures, where each row of pixels shift into a sort of zipper pattern. I have fixed this by turning the screen off and back on again and it takes care of it.
I have also noticed, and I believe it is a feature, though I haven't been able to find anything about it yet, a little quirk of the screen. Every 10 or so minutes the whole screen shifts in one direction by a few pixels, I think it may be a feature to prevent burn in and it is not particularly bothersome even though it is noticeable.
I would definitely recommend this monitor to someone who needs the widescreen form factor, there is lots of real estate to play around with and the colors are quite brilliant.

A powerhouse for both gaming and productivity

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED is a powerhouse monitor that exceeds my expectations for both productivity and gaming. I have always used a two monitor setup due to the need to have multiple apps open at the same time (office and drawing programs). However this has always been a disappointing setup for gaming, as I either have to use only one of the smaller monitors, or deal with a line in the middle.
The G9 OLED fixes this issue and gives me the space of two 27-inch monitors, for work, but one large and immersive display for gaming. The massive 49-inch curved screen delivers plenty of real estate for multitasking. I have no issues opening up large spreadsheets or other apps. The curved screen also makes it easier to not have to turn your head as much to see the far edges.
The 240Hz refresh rate provides incredibly smooth gameplay and the minimal response time make it excellent for all types of games. The vibrant OLED panel enhances image quality and immersion with the dark inky blacks and rich colors, creating an immersive. Overall I’m extremely happy with this monitor and plan to use it for a long time. It provides me the perfect balance for both work and games.
Lastly, the G9 includes the typical Samsung Smart Hub, which allows for streaming of your favorite TV and movies. I like to split the monitor with Multi-view and have one half dedicated to the game or document I’m working on and one half dedicated to the news streaming. You can also split the multi-view to show two different devices or if you want, you can out put from your computer to have it act just like two monitors.
This thing has so many amazing features and is probably the best monitor on the market. So glad that I went with this monitor. I can’t imagine going back to a standard two monitor setup again.
