[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been previously using the Samsung Odyssey G8 as my main monitor for some time now, and it has consistently outperformed the competition. Naturally, when the opportunity came to buy the new Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED, I was intrigued but cautious—could it really be that good without being fully 4K as the previous G8 is? The answer, as I’ve discovered, is a resounding yes.
Straight out of the box, the G8 OLED impressed me. It’s lighter, thinner, and noticeably wider than its predecessor. The design is sleek and modern, with that signature Samsung quality that I’ve come to expect. But it wasn’t just the aesthetics that caught my eye; the moment I powered it up, I realized this monitor is more than just a pretty face.
One of the most surprising features of the G8 OLED is its versatility. This isn’t just a monitor—it’s also a fully functioning smart TV. With a Quantum Dot OLED panel, it offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and exceptional contrast. The built-in voice commands, a suite of apps, an active voice amplifier, and much more to elevate this monitor to a full entertainment hub that all fits nicely on my desk. The Samsung Gaming Hub is particularly noteworthy, offering access to Xbox, Luna, and a range of other gaming apps. And yes, it even comes with a compact, quality remote—because Samsung knows how to add those thoughtful touches that make all the difference.
I have this monitor connected to a super high-end PC because, quite frankly, only the best monitor can match its capabilities. This was my first ultra-wide monitor, and I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the change. But after about 10 minutes of gaming and adjusting the extra screen real estate, I was completely hooked. The immersive experience of the ultra-wide format is something I didn’t realize I was missing out on until I had it.
The G8 OLED boasts a 34-inch screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a 3440 x 1440 resolution, offering nearly 4K quality. The 175Hz refresh rate ensures smooth visuals with minimal motion blur, while the 0.1ms response time eliminates ghosting, keeping fast-paced games looking sharp and fluid. When switching between the G8 4K and the G8 OLED, I could barely notice a difference in quality. But here’s where it really shines: you get both quality AND FPS, which is the ultimate win-win in my book and most likely for the majority of gamers out there. The visuals are stunning, and the gameplay is as smooth as butter.
While gaming is my primary use, I also use my PC for 3D design, video editing, writing estimates, and every other office-related task you can think of. The ultra-wide screen real estate makes multitasking a breeze. I can have multiple windows open side-by-side without feeling cramped or losing focus. The connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1's, two USB's and a DisplayPort 1.4, this monitor integrates seamlessly into my setup, making it incredibly versatile for all my needs.

The Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED has not just met my expectations—it has exceeded them in every way. Great Monitor for both Gamer and Creators

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 34'' G8 monitor is solid build, the overall design and building quality feels and looks great! It have the vesa mount adaptor included, so I can attach to my existing monitor arm seamlessly. The display it self looks awesome. since it's OLED it can display images with more dynamic contrast range. I connected mainly using my M3 Pro Macbook Pro via a Thunderbolt docking station, when gaming mode is turned on, the refresh rate can set as 175hz, but when the gaming mode is off you can only select 120hz. The built in smart OS helps a lot while getting a break from the computer to enjoy the live TV and streaming services. The speaker for this monitor is not great as I expected but I'm using external speakers anyway.
For gaming, the refresh rate and the panel's response rate is great and ideal! For content creator and designers the corlor range is pretty decent and accurate the anti-reflection finish give you glare free look while doing your creations.

Overall it's a pretty great monitor that fits most of the tasks and pretty solid built that seems can last long!

Gorgeous Display

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was surprised how light this thing was right out of the box.....it made the initial setup very easy and the walkthrough makes everything very intuitive. Everything you could need to connect to the monitor is included along with explanation of what the connections are used for. The monitor was a little bright for me right out of the box but I did some digging around for some preferred settings and found a setup I'm happy with. HDR looks amazing....colors are vibrant and crisp and blacks are black! I do have to get used to the ultrawide screen, not used to having to look at one end and across the screen to the other, but that should be natural soon, especially once I'm able to move the monitor back a little. There are plenty of connections to incorporate other systems like your TV, Game Console etc. and the Home menu gives you lots of cool features such as viewing/controlling your Smartthings devices, watch TV, Play games through the game hub and the settings are a plenty, giving your all the options gamers could want including RGB at the Core on the back. I am extremely happy with this monitor so far, the only gripe I have is the game bar menu. It pops up every time the monitor wakes and displays how to show it etc....I dont know why they dont have the option to disable auto popup of the game bar menu. I found a workaround for it, but the option should easily be available for everyone. Other than that., I give this monitor a perfect score.....it makes me want to view all my games again and actually sit and watch TV content on it. Thanks Samsung!

Samsung's Odyssey line is seriously the best monitors currently on the market. I mean, 34" of OLED? Un. Real. The ultrawide width, 0.03ms response time, and 175hz refresh rate make this the most immersive experience you can find. You not only get a much better gaming experience, but with specs like that you also get a competitive edge. Also, this thing is razor thin. Makes for a breathtaking centerpiece of your battle station setup.
A feature you should definitely know about, this monitor has a built-in gaming hub, which functions similar to a smart TV. You can access apps like Netflix or Hulu without having to turn on your computer. You can access cloud gaming through apps like Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox. This monitor can handle it all.
For productivity, the ultrawide monitor makes bigger projects much more streamlined to manage. Especially when it comes to photo and video editing as the color spectrum on this monitor is unparalleled. I have absolutely zero regrets buying this monitor. It has immensely levelled up every aspect of my setup and my experience.

Samsung Odyssey G8 Delivered!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So i got this monitor to replace an older style Samsung monitor and this thing sure was an upgrade in alot of ways. Ill do a pros and cons.
Cons
Switching from HDMIs is terrible because you must go to home screen, go to connected devices, pick your input, wait for original input to load in before you can switch, and then select it.
If you are using HDMI the monitor has a hard time trying to pick up console. It will stutter and freeze forcing you to unplug and plug the monitor back in to refresh the input signal. It does not do that on the display port. Also this doesnt happen every single time you do it either.
The display resolution on console it cuts off the sides of the screen leaving you to only use the middle. If I am buying a 34-inch monitor, I’d like to play on a 34 -inch screen. I get this isnt necessarily Samsungs fault.
Its only 175 hertz which as a gaming monitor is lower for a high-end monitor and price. Id of just like to of seen 240 Hz
Pros
The OLED panel on this thing looks awesome, the picture – great, gaming content looks good, HDR works perfectly. The quality and sharpness of the picture is definitely a huge improvement from older generations and definitely worth the upgrade on its own.
It has speakers that are decently good. They have directional audio that shocked me on how good it sounded for internal speakers.
Doubles as a TV. Honestly id of liked to of seen this not included and them focus more on other things but at the same time I didnt realise how much i missed having the simplicity of a TV in my gaming room.
The game mode menu really simplifies and helps bringing out the true potential of the monitor itself. You have to utilize this menu if you want max frames and fast latency. Plus theres some extras in there like virtual red dot and mini map magnifier thats cool.0
Its less bulky than the older versions. Very slim and easy to look at on a desk.
All in all I give this 4 stars due to the hassle of switching HDMI ports. I utilize this alot due to playing on console and pc and its just aggravating on how this isnt simpler or at least done with no issues. Its not to bad of a reason not to use it and I will probably use this monitor for the next 3 or 4 years so I am happy with my purchase.

Dual gaming and Streaming Monitor

I currently just have it hooked up to my gaming laptop and the graphics are incredible. I’ve hooked it up to my husbands gaming PC and its absolutely stunning visually. The curve is at the perfect angle to see everything with ease.
One of the amazing things about this monitor as well is that it connects to Wifi on its own so it can be used as a tv as well. I’ve connected it to all of my streaming services and watching a lot os movies and shows on it and the graphics and colors are wonderful.
Its got a very sleek and thin profile so you can fit it in a small space if needed.
