I bought the one probe version and if I had to do it all over again I would have bought more and the one that doesn’t just use a battery. I smoked a brisket and used another company’s probe to see if both read the same. I would recommend using multiple probes when smoking a larger piece of meat. Once finished smoking, I wrapped in a towel and let it rest in a cooler. The MEATER could not connect but the other brand could so I am curious why this happened. A little bit of a disappointment but not a buzz killer.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Ritch. Using multiple probes can definitely enhance monitoring, especially with larger cuts of meat. The connectivity difference you noticed during the resting phase may be related to signal range or interference factors. Our wireless design focuses on convenience and precision within optimal distances. I had the old version of the MEATER+ for years, but I dropped the charger case one too many times. My new MEATER is a great improvement over an already great product! The battery life is much improved, temperature is measured to within a tenth of a degree, and the maximum ambient temperature is now beyond any temperature I will ever use. All at a very similar price, although I can’t really remember what I paid for either of them. Both were worth what I paid, but the new MEATER is just an all round better product.
Great purchase! I smoked a pork picnic roast a few weeks ago and it made things so easy! My only regret was that I didn’t sink the probe at the start to keep a better eye on my ambient temperature.
Biggest mistake I made buying this. I thought the Meater is supposed to be a superior brand but this product is garbage. The probe looses connection constantly either between the probe and the base or the base and the phone. The range on it stinks. Can’t even sit on the couch in the living room with out it looking connection. Also the app does int a frenzy and send notifications/causes the phone to vibrate with every degree change.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Frequent disconnections can result from range limitations, interference, or obstacles between the probe, charger, and phone, while excessive notifications may be tied to alert settings in the app. Keeping the probe and charger within optimal range, reducing obstructions, and adjusting notification preferences can improve both stability and usability. I’m a big fan of my thermometer because it’s always right no more guessing at what the temperature should be when he comes to Recipes. Those are guidelines as far as the cook times having a thermometer, especially on longer cooks like a roast works out well.
