Junk!! I have used this maybe 5 times and the temp is always off. This time I'm using and the food has been cooking for nearly 3 1/2 hours and the app is still estimating the cook time. Totally unreliable and not worth the money. Junk!!

Hello, and thank you for your feedback on the MEATER Pro. Although the Pro has increased the number of sensors from 1 (with the MEATER Plus) to 5, it is still important to follow the same placement approach to ensure the most accurate temperature reading. This includes having the first 3 cm (about 1.2”) of the probe positioned into the thickest part of the meat, while also avoiding contact with bone or having it inserted into fatty sections. Not only is this needed for measuring the internal temperature accurately, but it will also help with cook time estimates as well. To get additional information on this topic, check out the link below for our Support Wizard section covering the MEATER Pro's temperature sensors. And if you still have questions, there is a contact page at the end of the Wizard to get you in touch with our Customer Service Team for more direct assistance.

I think it's asinine that this probe doesn't pair with original Meater block. You have to constantly depend on a battery to keep it charged prior to using it.

Thanks for sharing your comments. The Pro collection has components, sizes, and contact points that differ from the Alpha collection, which makes them incompatible. Regarding the charging cycle, a fully functional probe should last for at least 24 hours per charge. If the battery is draining quickly or the probe is not charging properly, our Customer Support team can help you review the issue. Reach out to us by visiting support.meater.com/contact-us.

I love the features of this thermometer that assist throughout the cook. Especially the estimate for cook done time and ability to set alert for a variety of times prior to end of the cook. This could be useful for reminding you to starting preparing finishing sauce .
I did not like that I lost connection more often than I like. The end of the device where the amount temperature sensor is located appears to have tarnished or discolored after 1 cook. Temperature never went over 320 degrees so I'd hope this is not a sign that this will not hold up to higher heats. It is the part of thermometer that's exposed to smoke & higher heat but I just did not expect this after 1 cook.

A better MEATER

Really like the new design. Slimmer, More temp readings, and higher heat tolerance. It would be nice to be able to program a reverse sear but easily worked around by just setting up a new cook when you pull the steak out of the smoker. All in all, a real good product.

Good for internal temp but not ambient
on April 20, 2024

Overall, I would highly recommend this wireless probe, but just be aware that the ambient temperature reading is highly inaccurate, sometimes by 50 degrees. This is caused by a multitude of factors, such as proximity to the meat since its cooler, and conditions of the meat such as sweating during a stall. Although the company cannot control these factors, the product is marketed as being highly accurate which applies to the internal temperature, so it is misleading because accuracy isn't specified between internal and ambient temperature reads. I would recommend that the company extend the length of the probe to decrease the inaccuracy and provide more awareness of the inaccuracy.
However, the product is still well worth the cost and is likely better than other competing wireless probes. The internal temperature reading appears to be accurate, and the app is quite useful. The app provides a disclaimer about the difficulty with predicting cook times, especially for meats that cook beyond 200 degrees F like pork butts and brisket. It's odd that the company clarified this but didn't clarify the inaccuracy of the ambient temperature reads.
The Bluetooth wireless connection is sometimes clunky and will constantly disconnect even when my phone and the probe charger are right next to the sensor. But, it will usually reconnect quickly without issue. The battery life is quite nice because the charger runs off a single battery which provides multiple recharges. Further, the probe itself can easily last through a 20+ hour cook.

Thank you for your review. The ambient sensor is accurate within 5°C / 9°F of the temperature at the location where it's measuring. The ambient temperature reading on a MEATER product is not the same as the ambient temperature reading of the inside of your appliance. The appliance (oven, grill, etc) has sensors calibrated to read the tamp and give you the reading of the overall temp of the appliance. The MEATER probes ambient sensor is designed to generate an estimated cook time. It reads the temperature directly around the sensor. Below is a support link that goes over the ambient temp and a video that explains the ambient reading. If you still need help, please contact us by phone or chat and one of our friendly and knowledgeable agents will be happy to help.
