I bought this to have for Thanksgiving, and I am a fan! Fresh turkey, dry-brined uncovered for 48 hours in the refrigerator, roasted at 325°F, Meater in the breast set to 165°F, alerted to pull at 160°F, rested 45 minutes uncovered, no fat rubbed on the bird, no basting.
The turkey was *perfect*. Tender, juicy meat, crisp skin, a delight. I repeated the meal a couple of weeks later, with a frozen turkey. Same steps as the first after defrosting, and it, too, was absolutely perfect! This is a fantastic tool.

Disconnects/Reconnects

I already owned a MEATER Plus for over a year, and was disappointed by the amount of times during cooking that the device and the application disconnected, leaving timing issues and inaccurate temperature and time information. I had hoped, based on reading the hype, that this issue was resolved with the MEATER Pro. Unfortunately, not only does the disconnection issue still exist, it almost caused me to burn up a turkey, because the ambient and internal temperatures did not update properly.
I am giving away the MEATER Pro, used once, to a family member, maybe they will have better luck with it. I am going in another direction.

Hi, and thank you for reviewing the MEATER Pro. Although keeping the charger as close as possible to the probes will provide a stable connection between them, most of the distance is going to be from the charger to the phone. Since the Pro has a Bluetooth booster that should substantially extend the range, we may want to make sure that it is not the probe-to-charger connection that is affecting the performance. Under ideal circumstances, the charger can maintain a link with the probes for up to 30'. However, as with any kind of similar signal, there are factors that can reduce the range, such as heavily insulated grills or having them completely covered by aluminum foil. Simply keeping the charger very close to the probes will usually prevent this from being an issue, but without knowing the details of your particular situation, it will be hard to address it more directly. Luckily, we have a few resources available that can help with any concerns that you may have with your MEATER, including directions on how to use a second smart device to extend your Pro’s range even further through a WiFi network. When you have a little time, please take a look at the below links for more in-depth assistance. The first one is to our Support Wizard for diagnosing various concerns with the MEATER Pro, and the second is a video showing how to extend your MEATER’s range through a WiFi network. And if you still have questions, at the end of the Wizard there is contact information for Customer Service, where agents will be more than happy help with anything related to your MEATER.

Takes the Stress Out of Complicated Meals

Expensive, better options available

They are ok. The limited bluetooth range keeps me from using these outdoors too much, which is my main use case. I mistakenly thought wifi was built into the new MEATR probes, not realizing that it was only built into the block. It would be cool if I could buy the block separately to upgrade my two probes with wifi capability.

Hello, and thanks for reviewing the MEATER Pro. In ideal situations, the Pro’s range can be over 200’ between the charger and your smartphone, but you’ll want to keep the charger close to the probes for the best results. While some obstructions, such as walls, doors, etc., can reduce the connection strength to your phone, you should have a fairly straight, unobstructed line of sight to the charger when using the Pro outdoors. As for the WiFi, all MEATER probes, except for the original MEATER that is no longer being made, will go through the charger before connecting to anything else. But whereas the MEATER Pro XL and MEATER Block connects directly to a WiFi router, the MEATER Pro charger simply connects to a secondary smart device first (via the MEATER Link/Cloud), and then to the MEATER App on your cellphone through your home's WiFi. For more information on using your MEATER Pro with WiFi, please check out the below link for a video that shows the connection process, step-by-step.

Wouldn't stay synced.

I hear great things but mine would not remain synced. It would sync for a minute then disconnect - even when I was very close. I will be figuring out how to return. Not ideal for Thanksgiving day. should have tried-out beforehand.
Also had issues registering account that day. Not sure if that would have made a difference but it wasn't working.

The probes are actually registered when you purchase them from MEATER.com or an authorized dealer, but it really shouldn’t affect their performance either way. Although it is possible that the probes are simply disconnecting due to an inadequate charge, you've probably already checked for this on your own. However, there are some simple steps that you can try by going through the MEATER Support Wizard at the below link. Additionally, if you are still encountering the same situation after going through the steps, contact information for MEATER Customer Service can be found at the end of the Wizard. Please consider reaching out to us before retuning the probes, and we should be able to get your MEATER Pro working perfectly in very little time.
