It works

It is what it is for the price. The first impression is good because it is pretty. After having it a while and using it every day it has become mediocre. The controls are herky-jerky, and the components loosened up pretty quickly to the point it doesn't feel safe. The gooseneck rattles and is loose and cannot be tightened effectively. The effective range is under half what was advertised. The display is basically useless, no data port so one can't unlock the real potential of the bike so it is what it is.

Heavy rider

I went to the doctor last week and weighted in 402 pounds. That limits the bikes I can ride. You say yours has a payload of 440 pounds. How about sending me a bike to evaluate and I'll tell you the truth about riding as a heavy rider.

In general, the bikes are OK (bought two for the family). The comments and the site speak to the good features. So I will just mention my cons:1) minor: no usb port to charge a auxiliary device.2) minor: the assembly instructions are worse than a Swedish furniture company.3) major: pedal assist is not an assist, it's a motor activation switch. Pedaling actives the motor to quickly jump to and maintain whatever speed 1,2,or 3 is preset for. Your pedaling means nothing other than turning on the motor. Even at max mph at only level 1, pedaling feels like you need to switch into a non-existent higher gear, pedaling air. I want a pedal assist, meaning somewhere in some variation of me putting 50%of the effort and the motor doing the rest--to get some iota of caloric burn out of it. What I get instead is about 95% motor, 5% human effort until meeting whatever mph threshold for that setting is (1,2 or 3, equating roughly 8, 14, 20 mph respectively ), then 100% my effort past that threshold.

Intimidating bike...LOTS of power!

It’s a beautiful bike but I fear it is too muscular for me. My friends who have ridden it say it really kicks forward even with Level One assist. I’ll get my courage up, but I think I wish I had gotten a smaller, folding bike.

Everything is Great! I love how long the battery lasts, especially if you only use assist when needed. I have 50 miles on my bike. It goes up regular road hills nicely! So much fun!

I love my Ride1UP 500 series. If it was a choice I could make the Velotric discover-1 is a real competitor. All the things that come with it make it such. I’ve not ridden the discover but with an “all in the box “its great. I think you will get the ride1up 500 long before the Velotric but 2023 is around the corner.If you buy a better Ride1UP then her that one they have lots of choices like the Ride1UP 700. Maintain it and you will be happy you did.
