Good bike, needs a lot of attention to packaging, shipping processes

Confused shipping process. MANY emails, and SMS messages, but little and vague or inaccurate information on when things arrive. E.g. confirmation the order will arrive tomorrow but it was delivered yesterday. Poorly packaged. Some scuffing of components. Screws that need to be removed to install things torqued down enough it was hard to get them off even with proper tools (e.g. hammer drivers) without damage. Other important screws too loose. Front fork on backwards. NO relationship between method of packing and unpack/setup instructions, including missing parts and spares that are not apparently for this bike. Left brake handle popped out of socket during shipping, was put back but is a bit loose still. Had to figure out assembly on my own. Some packaging hidden caused problems; dense black foam in battery compartment prevented install and looked like part of bike. Bike itself is as we wanted and needed. Bright yellow, reasonable design as far as position of items, selection of components for the price. IS A TRUE STEP THROUGH! Hard to find at all anymore and nearly unheard of for eBikes of any price. Sized well, so can be ridden daily by both 5'3" women and 6" men. Suspension very good on the extremely poorly maintained streets and trails here, that are bone crushing in e.g. a RAD Wagon. Gear ratios good, brakes good, all work without adjustment out of box and after several weeks. Seat is unexpectedly good, for the comfort bike it is. Power assist levels are unusual, not like any other eBike I have used. They are not amount-of-added-power, but are best thought of more like gear ranges; 1 gets you to like 9 mph, 2 to 12-14, and so on up to about 22. Power assist is too much up to the speed limit, then above it you must pedal almost entirely to maintain a faster speed. Works well for the user of it who wants to human power pedal but have hill and get-home-tired assist, but atypical for eBikes. Be aware. Some controls are odd. I wish the thumb throttle had a lockout, and the walk mode is too easy to accidentally hit while changing modes as well. Manual is useless, luckily a few videos but all the menu stuff could be outlined in one page of the manual or a short web page. Just give us the info! Similarly, tires came deflated and tire pressure is a secret. Not in manual, not on website. Eventually found a tire marking but that's the tires, I am guessing at bike suggested pressure as it's a wide range. Tool kit is the typical joke, mostly unusable. Also, no storage compartment for it, so unclear why it is included instead of one with a bag that goes anywhere ON the bike. Optional-extra rear rack has odd construction preventing neat installation of any side racks/pannier. I made do with some brackets but they clearly don't know WHY people use racks, so need to look that up and change the design to not have the verticals come outboard of the rack.

Great Power and Long Distance!!

We had seen other 48 volt and 500 watt ebikes, but their amp-hours were only 8 or 10. So when we saw the Velotric bikes had amp-hours of 14.4, we knew it we could get up hills easily and could go many miles on a charge!!! Love the bike!!The color 'Pearl' is a metallic, really light silver. Beautiful.

Better than advertised !!

Least expensive, best specs, coolest looking (wait til your neighbors catch up with you!!) and so much fun to ride!We ordered on sale later in September and received a couple weeks ago in October 2022. They've already upgraded the few things people mention at all negatively in early reviews. Although NOT yet in specs (they've changed those too now on the site) at most recent discount ours came with - 5 level assist, improved suspension forks, AND hydraulic brakes! Unbeatable. I am 68 , recovering from double knee replacements (only 3 months!). Haven't ridden or worked on bikes in decades. Was able to assemble with just a little help from a not so very handy friend, and then was able to ride almost immediately. A steep learning curve for us new e bike riders. However when you learn to keep it in higher gears, and pedal a bit more slowly (note cadence sensor NOT torque) you still can go anywhere and yet still get exercise from pedal resistance. Only have about 20 miles on it so far, but more impressed each time I ride. So glad we got this (probably get another of same for spouse) - like so many others, I thought I'd never ride again. What a thrill!

I love the Velotric I just got. I can go to school at 20mph in 8 minutes. Faster than a car and I bring the bike right to my room 2nd flor. Battery is great so far. A charge last a week...just love it

This is one smooth ride! I rarely have to use more than level 1 assist. I love the retro look of the tires. It's a very well structured bike. Totally worth every penny!Your service department is so nice and helpful.

I had been looking at EBikes for over 2 years. So happy to have purchased the Velotric. It’s easy to maneuver and not to heavy that it would fall over.

Helps me to ride my bike again

I have Long-COVID and for a year and a half I couldn't ride my bike. I converted my mountain bike into an ebike with a kit I bought off the Internet. It was an easy build and, finally, I was back riding my bike. I rode daily, putting over 600 miles on it in August.Couple problems: I was truly riding too fast as I'd gotten too powerful a motor and I started noticing signs of stress on my bike's frame. Clearly my bike wasn't safe.I started researching commuter/cruising ebikes and came across a lot of reviews for Velotrik's DIscover 1. I read several of them and was sold that this would be a great bike to continue recovering and to put a crate on the rear rack for trips to the grocery store.I have a little more than 300 miles on it and I'm still sold.
