Got my new Velotric Discovery bike

First impact: really easy to assemble out of the box. Riding is smooth and a pleasure. Have had a fantastic time on it. Great value too. Just bought two more Velotric bikes for my kids.

I'm just over 3 weeks in and I'm closing in on the first hundred miles. I hadn't ridden a bike since the mid-90s. There is some learning curve but as they say: you never forget how to ride a bike. I have been walking around my neighborhood for years. This has really expanded my world. quick jaunts even several miles away are a breeze. I'm a larger guy with some extra weight but the bike handles it with ease. the fatter tires and just enough suspension make the various cracks and pot holes of my home town unthreatening. While the hilly nature of my neighborhood is no problem with pedal assist. Been looking at these ebikes for several years. Glad I finally took the leap.

Excellent Quality for the Price

I’ve only had my Velotric Discover 1 Plus eBike for a few weeks, but I absolutely love it and have over 100 miles on it so far. The quality and build is superb, the battery life is excellent, and the ride is very smooth, especially with the 26” x 2.5” street tires. Plus, the swept back handlebars with the adjustable stem are a game-changer and provide the most comfortable upright riding position I’ve ever experienced. I also love the integrated brake light, which is extremely important when commuting in traffic. I only have a few negatives thus far. First, the matte paint (at least with the Cyan color) shows smudges very easily and is difficult to clean after riding in wet conditions because the grease on the chain splashes around, so I wish the paint was glossy instead of matte. Second, I wish it had an 8-speed gearshift instead of 7 and an 11-28 tooth cassette instead of 14-28 because I do experience some ghost pedaling in pedal assist levels 4 and 5 even when I’m in 7th (the highest and hardest) gear. Finally, I wish it had metal fenders instead of plastic, but that’s just a personal preference. Other than that, I love the bike so much and look forward to riding every day the weather allows.

For the price I didn't expect the great quality. I'm very pleased with my purchase, so much so that my partner ordered her one as well. Highly recommend Veloctric Discover 1 Plus Bike. Together we have accumulated 500 miles on them, with no issues of any sorts.Have recommended to several friends and relatives to check Velotric out.

Great commuter bike, difficult to repair

I bought a Discover 1 a little over a year ago as a way to ride between my house and the train (about 3 miles each direction). Sometimes all the way to my office, around 17 miles away. I live at the bottom of a steep hill, and this has plenty of juice to get up. Love the built in light, and the accessories are all great for commuters. I probably get around 30 miles per charge, typically at the top end of the pedal assist range. Great way to commute without getting sweaty on the way to work! The only downside is the tire size. Given this is clearly meant to be a commuter bike, the 26 x 2.5 tire size is difficult to replace if you get a puncture. I have not been able to find any puncture resistant tires of that size anywhere on the market. I ended up replacing the back tire with a BMX tire and Slime tube because that was all I could do to protect it from getting its third flat in a month.
