This router would not become a mesh node on my RT-AC5300! I have other ASUS products that added without issue but this one never worked. I called support and they eventually hung up. In the end, I returned the product and gave up on ASUS. I installed and eero Pro 6E and everything works better.

Does not work with Airmesh. Updated firmware. Place By the RT AX3000. Initialize Airmesh. AX 1800. Connects. Power down the AX1800 to move. AX1800 won’t re- connect to the AX3000 even setting side by side.

If it matters to you that the lights flash to indicate activity on an interface, this router does not do that. Otherwise it’s a very good router for the price point.

I replaced my DSL modem Wi-Fi / Router functionality with the 1800s. For the price, it is an awesome router. I only have 10Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream so I implemented the QOS feature with a few simple rules to give a higher priority to my smart tv and so far I must say that my streaming performance is much more consistent with no buffering or picture degradation. I used to experience this often. Because I have 20 to 25 devices, I wish that the traffic monitoring was capable of showing which devices and apps are using the most bandwidth, but for the price I’m thankful to be able to see the aggregate up and down speeds - along with the QOS to prioritize my traffic which routinely uses my entire bandwidth. I have also noticed my wi-fi signal is stronger throughout the house. I wish the 5Ghz band was a hair stronger in strength , but I can’t complain. As my home is in the country, I probably have no signal noise from my neighbors. Since I can reach full capacity on the 2.4Ghz band, I only put my TVs on the 5Ghz for extra stability. All in all, while I wish I have a few more advanced features only available on the higher priced routers, this router is very feature rich for the price. Although I have constantly 22 devices running, even when I max out my speed, all devices perform fine and the CPU never goes above 6% that I have seen so far. If my internet provider ever gives me more speed, I would without hesitation buy another of these routers to put in a mesh for increased 5Ghz strength in my basement where 5Ghz doesn’t reach very well. However, the 2.4Ghz covers the area with sufficient strength (especially compared to my old router). I could not be happier with my purchase. It is well worth the price.
