Dear Valued Customer,
We're truly sorry for the hours of frustration with your non-functional router and lack of support. This is not the experience we want. Please try a full power cycle (unplug the router and modem for 60 seconds, then plug the modem, then the router). If devices still aren't recognized, contact us immediately at customerloyalty@asus.com. We are committed to resolving this directly for you. Please copy a link to this post as a reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Good firmware, menu etc. Not as "brainy" as openWRT, Things seem straight, reasonable without getting lost in the woods. So far no surprises More security (free) than my old router, big reason I bought.

I got over 12 years of trouble-free service from my ASUS RT-N66U Dark Knight Wifi Router before it started showing signs of a possible failure. There was no question as to which brand I would choose to replace it. I didn't spend a lot of money for the RT-N66U and I didn't have to spend much for my new RT-AX 1800. This means a lot to a retired guy on a fixed income. Got my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.

It is a pretty device, and the ethernet worked brilliantly. I was unable to get the wifi to run, despite assistance from ASUS support team. Their closing line was that I needed to contact my ISP provider, even though my ancient Arris surfboard worked great on the same connections.

Dear Joel McLemore,
Thank you for your comment.
We do understand your disappointment with the router and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing problem connecting wirelessly. To resolve the wireless connection problem, place the router in the center of the area you want to cover, avoid placing the router near metal objects, electronic devices or direct sunlight, position the router on a flat, hard surface and halfway between the floor and ceiling. Additionally, dense building materials, such as gypsum, concrete walls and planks can affect Wi-Fi signal penetration. Furthermore, verify if the router's security credentials matches with your ISP's modem information. Check if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Also, we recommend updating the router's firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax1800s/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX1800S.
