Ice machine sucks

Poor product

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was purchased on July 23, 2025. It was installed the following Wednesday. In less than 48 hours the internal water pipe feeding the filter broke. I had a kitchen full of water the next morning, plus a basement full of water. The food in the freezer and refrigerator was wet and had to be thrown out. We have been waiting on parts to fix this for over a week.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Some good, some bad

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this fridge because it’s the newer version of a fridge we had previously that we absolutely loved. The previous fridge had a problem with the freezer vents getting blocked all the time and then it wouldn’t make ice. We were so happy to see that design had been improved but Whirlpool also changed the ice maker design and it takes up a lot of room in the fridge. If we had realized how much room it was going to take up, we wouldn’t have purchased it

Not what we expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this in June 2025. (1) Recently the ice maker quit working, but we followed the manual and got it working again. (2) However, the ice tray is very DIFFICULT to open. We have to tug and pull, and the fridge almost feels like it is going to topple over on us. It rocks back and forth. We've opened it 3 times and it takes the two of us together tugging to pull it open. One of us has to push the button while the other tries to tug. The ice tray in the store just opened smoothly after pushing the button. One person can do that one. (3) The left door will NOT stay open and the fridge has been leveled correctly by the installers. The fridge is poorly designed because the ice tray storage takes up too much storage space in the upper compartment.

One more time

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am pleased with the fridge so far. I had a very bad experience the last Whirlpool fridge I purchased. I had to replace the compressor and three Ice makers in seven years. An analysis of the compressor sizing on the failed unit (out of warranty of course) revealed that it was severely undersized. I bought another Whirlpool appliance hoping the quality would have improved. I hope so....I am a professional Quality Engineer, and I am hoping that Whirlpool has turned the corner.

I love all the room and different compartments it has!! My hope is that this one will last 21 years like my last Whirlpool refrigerator.
