The Garmin Fenix 8 is a top-tier sports smartwatch. However, extremely high price and requirement of a paid subscription to unlock advanced features. Now I'm facing a problem that my watch just disappear from my garmin connect app and I need to restart the pair process (and product registration). In general, it's good but you always will question if it worth.
I've been purchasing Garmin watches for 5 years, and they keep taking things away that matter. I loved Garmin express I could use on my MacBook to download apps and watch faces to my watch but they decided to take that option away and make us use ConnectIQ on our phones which isn't as good, it doesn't show all the watch faces like Garmin Express does. I don't think I'll purchase another Garmin watch if they make it that much harder to find watch faces by getting rid of something that works I'll never understand. Thanks for nothing Garmin
After using an Apple Watch for over a decade, I like this one. My Apple Watch's ability to monitor my pulse rate when working out is always a challenge for me.The Garmin watch has now resolved the issue.Additionally, the run's accuracy is superior to that of the Apple Watch.I also enjoy the statistics on the watch and the Garmin Connect after working out.
Nothing intuitive. Despite having kayaking as a sport, Garmin chat said no navigational charts can be used wit it. Trying to locate LiveTrack on my phone (Garmin Connect) each time required such a search that I usually gave up. This is my fourth Garmin product and not one is easy to use. Very disappointed.
Long time Apple Watch User, figured to give it a fair trial. Definitely have few nice niche fitness features, however its way too much of steep price difference. There is just no way for me to justify the price difference between the Apple Ultra. If they were at the same price point, than I can forgo some of the Apple integration I missed but for me it was not worth it.
I got this shortly after it's release in October of 2024. I have worn it everyday since buying it. I've gotten many compliments on it. The features alone are worth it. This watch actually helped save my life. I use the GPS tracking for dirt bike rides daily. I've had multiple close calls on my bike, but this watch was able to provide help to me from the gps, flashlight, and body monitoring vitals. Although it doesn't take blood pressures it was able to show HR, RR, and BPM out of range when I became extremely dehydrated. Showed the way out of remote areas when turned around. The flashlight is perfect and lit my way out of the mountains when my other lights failed. The battery life alone is worth more than any other watch I have tried. I wish it had a few more features for text. Eg. talk to text or write to text. The voice calling failed on mine maybe a function disabled but it's still great. It helped me identify the sources of stress in my life too. There are so many features I don't use. If you question its worth. Don't. It's dependable, rugged, life saving, and lasts for weeks while using GPS, the led light, and texting.
