Average Usability, but High Quality

Bought this to carry R5 and 2 small lenses while hiking around in Iceland. Hard to use side flaps as they want to close rather than allow easy access. Zippered pockets on inside of the flaps are fine, but slide ins do not keep material secure unless bag is vertical. The outside pockets could be larger/deeper to accommodate waterbottle or travel tripod. Yes, there are securing straps, but not that easy to unsecured if in wet or cold climates. Not much room in the bag for gear if you want to leave room for any clothing, gloves, etc. The flap zipper also gets snagged on the corner of the main flap when trying to zipper close the side flap with one hand so your gear won't fall out. High quality material build makes it a bit stiff. Not a plus if you are in wet conditions and wanting to quickly access your camera, shoot and then return it.
Not a fan of the front cross strap between the two shoulder straps..Difficult to secure to the other strap and then feels like a choke hold once attached and it was in a lowered position.

Great bag for those that like everything "in it's place". I am not a photographer; I did want something that secured all of my electronics in place. As I needed it for going into the office, getting a bag with MOLLE wasn't really an option. Looks professional, holds what I need it to, and seems like it will hold up.

The problem with other packs is that there is no vertical stratification- you are always digging down into in deep compartments. PD has solved that with the dividers and sode openings.

Hold myself back for to long

I thought about buying it for far to long and didn’t pull the trigger.
I bought the 20l version 1 1/2 years ago and should have bought it when I first wanted it abou 2 1/2 years ago.
I love everything about it, the lock, the protection it provides for my camera and laptop, the quality of the material and all this little hooks to “extend” the backpack when I need to carry an extra Jacket or something.
My Advice: If you what to have this bag, don’t wait, buy it, its worth every buck!

Not for hot locations

I am a Hawaii photographer and was looking for a backpack that looked professional, was easy to use, and could withstand some sand and rain. I went for the backpack over the sling because sometimes I gotta climb around lava rocks at the beach and wanted something more stable. This bag checked all the boxes and was initially awesome, but as I used it more I found one major flaw that made me return it.
The bag is extremely hot when worn with both straps on. Specifically, the element where you would slide a suitcase handle through is dense and heavy (probably to withstand lots of use on a suitcase) and when worn on a hot day it doesn't breathe at all. I have been using backpacks on shoots for several years now and have never sweat through a shirt, but with this bag I was 4 for 4. Kind of embarrassing to shoot with a giant sweat circle on your back.
Everything about this bag was awesome, all the little details and usability was great so I would say if you live in a cool environment then this bag is 5/5, but if you live in hot or tropical areas beware.

I bought the original Everyday Backpack through the kickstarter campaign years ago and used it daily for camera stuff, laptop, general everyday duties. It held up quite well until finally the zipper broke, but Peak Design sent me a replacement without any hassle.

Great backpack, solid build

I originally owned the Everyday Backpack v1 which was my trusted companion for more than 5 years. After everyday usage one of the zippers broke, but after a very swift conversation with customer support it was replaced under their lifetime warranty and I got the new version of the backpack. There are clear improvements in the new compared to the original version. The best improvement is the adjustable laptop pocket and that there is space for documents, which is essential as I use it for work.
Highly recommend this backpack, both as a work and leisure bag.
