Oder 20L navy Blue everyday backpack. The overall quality and thought of this bag is really good. The Only I do not like about it till now is it catch the dust easily and look dirty with in the couple week of use. I am not sure about other color, but I have a navy blue.
Purchased V2 of the everyday Backpack line. It fits my Sony A7C with three lenses perfectly. I use this backpack daily to replace my everyday messenger v1 since that is well-used and needs to be replaced. This backpack is perfect for my needs as a daily backpack that can function as a camera backpack when I travel. This is also the best-looking camera backpack on the market you can find!!
I've been using the Everyday Backpack (20L) for about a year while I've been traveling full-time internationally. It's mostly been used to hold my computer gear and other items I want to carry on to flights/trains. I really like all the thoughtful design details and customization options. It still looks brand new despite constant use over the last year. I expect to have many more years of traveling with this backpack.
After realizing that the rough mesh back panel on my current Timbuk2 backpack was causing several of my clothes to pill, I was on the hunt for a new everyday carry pack. My requirements were pretty typical with one exception that I often have to carry two laptops.
This Peak Design backpack really caught my eye with its spaceship-y look and unique origami divider design. I was really excited and hopeful for it to be the one so I gave it, in tandem with a Peak Design Tech Pouch, a try for a few weeks. Although it delivered in the aesthetics department and even had a few pleasant surprises (like the swiveling strap connectors and that it stands up on its own), I ended up finding too many flaws to justify the heavy price tag.
- It’s too boxy. Every time I put it on, it felt like I was strapping a cardboard box to my back. - It has no external pockets. Everything you put in this pack goes inside the main compartment, and within that, optionally in one of the internal pockets. This means every time you want to access something, you have to open the entire main compartment and dig around. This might have been fine if the internal pockets were great but they’re fairly small and prone to having their contents spill out into the main compartment. The tech pouch somewhat solved this by co-locating most of my smaller items in one place (which I put at the top of the main compartment using an origami divider below it) but this then necessitated opening the pack from the side zippers for everything else. I think at the end of the day my inability to get used to the side-zipper-based access pattern was the primary reason for it not working out. - The origami dividers were not useful at best and got in my way at worst. I found myself occasionally wanting to pack something that wouldn’t fit without shifting around the dividers (which is a non-trivial task). My read on this was that the pack was designed very well for certain user segments (like photographers) but not for me. - The laptop pocket was too tight. It’s a small annoyance but one that kept irking me with each time I got and put away my laptop. Maybe this is unique to the larger 16” MacBook size but I couldn’t pull it out with rubbing my fingers against the (quite rough!) zipper. Adding in my second laptop only magnified this a step further.
I’ll close the review with this. If your use case or preferences for a pack align with the unique single-compartment, divider-oriented, side-zipper-access design Peak Design went with here, this is a fantastic pack. If not, as was the case for me, I’d recommend continuing your search.
I bought this about 2 months ago and my experience has been great so far! Sectionalized organization is quite useful and keeps your gear safe. It is extremely feature rich, thoughtful design.
I got the 15L Everyday Backpack in dark blue, and I have to say, after having used it for TWO DAYS, (two!)--my other backpacks are now awful by comparison. I don't like my old backpack anymore! What? I completely regret buying them now! It's terrible! Thanks Peak Design! Thanks a lot!
Love the design and all the thought put into it. Can carry my camera around easily now, and have some extra space to put stuff in for my kids at the top. The only think is that while it says it works with 15in laptops, and it kinda does. You really have to shove your laptop in there. Probably some slimmer models would work better, but it is really tight. Can't help it I guess, but still, really tight there.
