I purchased this bag about a month or so ago after seeing it on YouTube and it hasn’t disappointed. It’s certainly a lot more different from the backpacks I’ve used before but it works well as an everyday carry bag and excellently as a camera bag. Peak Design support was quick to reply to emails (within a few days or even sooner) and helped answer the simplest of questions I had to even getting a warranty replacement done for some minor issues with the initial unit. Overall a great product from a great team. Can’t wait to see what further improvements this bag will get in the future.
Actually, the tittle of the review could have very well been shortened to "The best backpack I have used". For many year I had been trying different photography backpacks. I wanted one easily accessible, comfortable, tripod compatible, with laptop compartment and versatile. Until I found this one, I had never tried one which ticked all the boxes. And I can tell you I tried (and owned) quite a few. This one ticks them all, but it ticks the comfort and versatility boxes so hard, that it has become my one and only, literally, everyday backpack. I use it for photography, for work, for commuting, for travelling... it is great for everything. I would say it is one of the best products in the range.
It’s called an everyday backpack and I LITERALLY use it every single day. I teach piano and play gigs - the bag suits my needs for both jobs carrying all my gear. When I travel I use the shelves to carry my Nikon camera and Nintendo Switch for the plane.
I purchased my V1 Everyday Backpack several years ago, and it was flawless. But a sitch came undone in the zipper and in one of the outside pockets. I contacted Peak Design about how best to fix it, and they reminded me of my LIFETIME WARRANTY. Next thing I know, they're replacing my bag with a V2 in an even better color?! Who does that!!?? Best backpack I've ever owned, without question. I love this thing.
This bag is amazing. I am traveling around a college campus photographing the cheer teams. Allows me to have everything I need to grab and go. Very comfortable to carry.
The Peak Design Everyday Backpack has been my daily carry now for 5 years and I love it! It really is my everyday backpack and goes with me to work, out hiking, when I walk down the road to buy groceries, as my carry-on on planes when I'm travelling - truly versatile. Typically I'll pack at least one (and often two) of my OM-System cameras and several lenses, and the internal dividers mean I can customize how much camera gear and how much other stuff I need each day. The weatherproofing is excellent (have had it out in torrential downpours and everything has been dry inside. Plenty of space for my Dell XPS 15 laptop, an iPad mini, plus documents. But the best things about this backpack for dedicated photographers are the side zipped pockets, meaning I can be out walking a crowded city or a remote mountain and access either of my two main cameras by just swinging the backpack around and unzipping the appropriate side pocket - brilliant stuff! On photo trips away I've really maxed out the amount of camera gear I've packed and that 20 liter capacity still manages - amazing!
I bought this six months ago and have now used it on twelve shoots and during three major trips. I’ve also used all the main competitors and landed on the 30L version of the everyday pack without any hesitation. I prefer the side entry style to begin with. It is versatile and fast when you need to get to your equipment. As a primary camera bag it is perfect. The zippers are all top notch and the materials are rugged. There are a couple of things I would change if I could. 1. It would be great for hiking situations (common for us landscape people), if this pack had an ability to carry a hydration reservoir. This could be done by waterproofing the laptop area. 2. At this price point, I’d like to see it include a hip belt.
This piece is the core of my gear now and I won’t be changing that.
I've been looking for a few years for a full-featured backpack for travel. While I don't carry cameras, I want to have room for electronics, books, jacket, drinks, etc, This backpack checks the box on all accounts, The quality, functionality and ease of access make travel much easier. And I also added the phone case and slim wallet and love that combination just as much.
