Attention to details

The bag is very well built, and the materials are high quality. The details are very well though-out.
However, I do wish few things were done differently. I wish the internal separators would have the ability to attach to one side of the bag (the flat back side) on the inside, creating a hollow pocket that is smaller but as a result allows you to store something flat like an A5 or A4 notebook or a tablet inside the bag (without using the back laptop packets or removing the dividers all together).
Additionally, I also wish the strap would have more cushioning as it does tend to get uncomfortable when wearing the bag for a while. And the fact it isn't that wide doesn't help either.
Other than that (and maybe a tiny pocket on the outside above the side water bottle pockets) the backpack is great, and very well designed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've been using this bag for a couple months now - primarily as a work and commuting bag. Overall, I'd like to give it a 3.5. Let's start with the good points:
1) lots of thoughtful little pockets and hidden storage,
2) easy to open top compartment,
3) great use of magnets for straps and pockets,
4) usable vertically and horizontally
Now for what has left me a bit disappointed:
1) It doesn't look great - the material is probably durable but it looks a bit cheap. The black bag is boring - it would have been nice to have the brown accents. The magnetic clip that opens the top pocket is already starting to lose its black coating and I only use it about twice a week for office commuting
2) When traveling with it docked horizontally on a suitcase, the top compartment is almost unusable because stuff can fall out. Trying to access it with he side opening means you need to rummage to find what you want
3) Smaller things in the top pocket can slip past the velcro organisers
4) It's very tight getting a thin laptop and ipad air in the back section - not quick access if you have both
Overall, this is close to being great but I would not recommend it for work and commuting.

Good concept, with a few flaws
on November 27, 2024

Got this bag for everyday carry, and like the overall concept with access to one customizable space from three sides. And in principle that works great, but after a bit of usage I see also some flaws in the details of the bags design.
First, the chest strap is difficult to use, not sure why they here deviated from the proven buckle that almost all other vendors out there use. Also the magnetic closure of the top flap is not that easy to use, Especially if put a jacket or pullover across under that top flap, the two parts of the closure meet at a weird angle and are difficult to connect. I think a Fidlock-type connector with a strap may work better. And when talking straps, for the straps used for mounting stuff on the outside, a bungee cord option would be great and in my view easier to use.
In terms of storage space, for my personal needs the space is a bit less than I‘d need, I can make it work, but 5-10 more liters would be appreciated. What I am also missing is smaller pockets that are directly accessible from the outside.

Disappointing Hype – Not Worth the Price
on December 13, 2024

I was excited about this backpack after reading all the glowing reviews and seeing its sleek design, but after using it for a few weeks, I can’t recommend it to anyone.
Here’s why:
1. Poor Durability: The “weatherproof UltraZips” are anything but durable. One of the zippers started sticking and eventually broke after minimal use. Considering the price, I expected higher-quality hardware.
2. Uncomfortable Design: Despite the “award-winning” tag, the straps are poorly padded and awkwardly positioned. After wearing this for just an hour with a moderate load, my shoulders were sore.
3. MagLatch is Gimmicky: The MagLatch system sounded innovative, but in practice, it’s clunky and unreliable. It occasionally pops open if the bag is overfilled, which is incredibly frustrating when you’re on the go.
4. Not as Spacious as Claimed: The so-called “expansion” feature is misleading. Even with minimal gear, I struggled to fit basic items for an average day out. Definitely not practical for photography gear, as the description implies.
5. Overpriced: This bag feels more like an overhyped fashion accessory than a functional backpack. You’re paying for looks, not performance.
Save your money and go for something more practical. This might work if you’re carrying a couple of light items and don’t mind frequent repairs, but for real-world use, it’s a big disappointment.

2 Key Critiques

I love Peak Design and will still buy their products. But please consider these for next iterations!
1. The luggage slot on this bag goes in sideways. This is inconvenient because 1). one side of the bag is unreachable, 2). accessing the top back slit pocket results in contents falling out and 3). the slot to put the luggage handle through is larger than my luggage bags, resulting in a slide from side to side making it difficult to balance the bag.
2. The bag does not fully open from the back. while it is okay most of the time, it is much more practical to be able to pull the whole back part out to access contents, especially if it's in the middle of the middle (not easily accessible from the sides or the top).
Otherwise the bag is sturdy, looks great, has many features and I still use it everyday.

Meticulously Designed

I am a backpack enthusiast, I own several backpacks and I buy and sell them to try new ones. The everyday backpack v2 is always in my rotation. I am not into photography but the ingenious access system makes this work for a variety of settings (office pack, diaper bag). It is on the expensive side but the design is so good that other established companies have tried to imitate it. I love the versatility of the organization. I dislike that the material will pick up dust and sand, noticeably on the black model.

Not worth it

This is the worst backpack I have bought so far and has now made it to my never buy list. The stitching comes undone and it has a very low capacity to hold things. Never again.

Poor quality

This backpack breaks easily. You can tell the straps are cheap. Weight distribution is poor once the bag gets heavier with significant stress over my shoulders. Would definitely stay away from this bag especially when considering the price point.
