My husband was in need of a camera bag, so I got this as a gift after hearing recommendations from a few friends. I can tell it's made of very good quality materials and will last a long time. My husband loved how easy it was to customize the compartments to organize his 2 lenses, camera, extra batteries, and a strap.
I already own a couple Peak bags so I knew what I was getting into. Indeed, I got what I expected: a well designed and constructed bag. Yes, there are tons of camera bags out there but few with such attention to details that matter to photographers. First, it is easy to open and draw my EOS R and RF 24-105 4L lens. They fit perfectly in the center stowed lens down (hood reversed). The dividers are tough yet soft, and fold and flex in several useful ways—allowing the camera grip a solid resting place without flexing or buckling under camera weight. Plenty of room for another small or medium lens and a Speedlite. I can't shout "pocket galore" but there are enough to get the job done and well placed for access. The pivoting attachment points on the strap keep the bag upright and hugging your body no matter how you twist and run. My only little niggle is I wish the strap was a little wider for more comfortable weight distribution on the shoulder. It's okay with just a camera and lens but fully loaded it digs in a bit.
I'm mostly happy with it, but... 1. Battery slots (4) in the zippered pocket inside the lid are too short (some camera batteries are taller than average and so will not fit. 2. The two battery slots in the middle are accessible, but the two on the left and right ends are hard to get batteries into and out of due to the restrictive curve of the top lid. 3. No excuse for not making this available in "Sage"---it's your best colour (and "Ash," which I got is your second best).
This is a great and robust bag made of great quality. I have the 6L version. It has enough space for a DLSR, 2 medium sized lenses (one wide angle with backwards fitted lens hood on the camera and a small compact telezoom without lens hood), accessories like extra battery, extra SD cards, some mall travel camera cleaning stuff, smartphone and wallet. The bag is packed full with this stuff but you can still easy close the zipper. It is very easy to change the lenght of the strap and to get access to your stuff.
I kept looking for a great camera bag but didn’t like any of the many options out there. Then I saw an intriguing video from Peak Design on YouTube. Turns out, this company is a unicorn! They make innovative products that meet real needs, elegantly, AND they have fantastic videos showing you how to get the most out of their gear. I bought the 6L Sling and it has made my life so much easier. I had been toting around a heavy, awkward bag and now I’m traveling light with my Sling and I looove it! I can’t wait to add their brilliant, travel-friendly tripod to my kit. And the Capture! Love the employees featured in the videos—fun people creating thoughtfully designed products. The icing on the cake is that they care about the environment and are carbon neutral. Unicorn!
Accept no substitutes! This is THE best made product I've ever purchased. It's amazing how well it fits all the devices I need to carry. I literally have a full video production studio inside this little sling. Very well designed, top notch materials and craftsmanship. Great customer service!
