Upgrading from the old 5L I expected to love this bag. The slightly large size, as well as external carry straps and better quick adjuster I always wanted on my sling, should be perfect.
However, despite being larger the interior pockets are smaller. The stretch ones seem smaller, the zippered one definitely isn't as deep. The zipper goes further down on the bag but because it goes straight down rather than angles towards the front, the old sling actually opens much wider.
Next, the strap, the padded section is much longer, comfortable when wearing over the shoulder, but makes it harder to put the strap at a length good for both shoulder, back, and waist carry. The opening to the rear sleeve is also much smaller, making it harder to stuff the pad in there for wait carry.
Finally, aesthetics. This point is obviously much more personal taste, but I liked the old ash better, it was a more neutral grey where the new ash has a bluish-green hue to it. It's also a bit plain by comparison, everything is grey. Before several details like the strap and zipper was black, a nice accent. I also find it curious how the carry handle lost the leather and move to the back, opposite of the everyday backpack, where the handle gained a leather strip and was moved from the back to the top.

Comfortable and practical

Like many people, I have tried bag after bag in search of the one that's "just right". The 6L sling is the best so far. It just works for a small full frame A7Rx day trip, and is perfect for my normal fuji body plus 3 lens set. The strength of this bag is it's comfort and speed of access. Capture clip integration is also well thought through. In a city environment, it is easy to secure, by swinging round to wear in front. The only potential improvements might be a better space for a phone, and a water bottle holder (could also help as the tripod straps don't quite work for tabletop / ultra compact tripods).
Well done Peak Design!

Great everyday bag for my gears: mirrorless camera and extra zoom lens, camera accessories, 360-degree action cam and expandable stick, mini tripod, wallet, keychain, protein bars, pens, laser pointer, and more importantly 12.9” iPad Pro with HMDI and card reader adapters, power bank and cables, etc. — to work, field trips, business meetings/presentations, leisure & vacation trips. High quality materials and craftsmanship, durable, easy to clean!

Unexpectedly awesome

When I received this product I was pretty unhappy. The build quality and aesthetics were great but I felt the bag would be too small for my gear (canon r5 + 2 lenses). After getting acquainted with it and trying different configurations I found a workable layout. It wasn't until my first trip that I truly fell in love with this product. The opening is just right to give you access while still feeling secure that your equipment is well protected. I even found that the bag provided a nice platform while changing lenses. Is the bag small for a 6L? Yes. But in my case it was a good thing as it forced me to seriously think about what I take with me when shooting on the go. Great product and I enjoy their marketing quite a bit.

I travel a fair amount and had, up until recently, used an Everyday Messenger for my Mamiya 6 and 3 lenses. I bought the medium sized sling to see if it could serve as my travel bag. I wanted to have something that marked me more a as pedestrian and not as a photographer as I walked the streets of foreign cities. I assumed I would have to remove a lens and some accessories to make it work. I did have to downsize a bit, but not much. I swapped out the strap for the cuff, but can still store the strap in the sling and I removed some CC filters which were no longer needed. I have had the sling for awhile, but due to covid, I haven't traveled which makes it difficult to comment on all aspects of the sling. I feel confident that it will be as durable as the Everyday Messenger and the quality is in line with all my other Peak Design products . What I can rate without conjecture is the utility of the sling and comfort and functionality of the strap. Really if the sling were only average the strap would be worth the purchase. No strap that I have used in 30+ years of photography compares. It is comfortable, doesn't bind or twist and it is amazingly adjustable and secure in those adjustments. The sling on the other hand is not average it is amazing how well it accommodates a medium format camera, lenses and accessories. There may be products that look similar, but I have yet to find a peer to PD's products.

Everyday Sling - 6L

I bought the Everyday Sling in 6L - I am a professional wedding photographer but I wanted a bag that I could take with me for every day use without bringing all my gear or a huge backpack, i.e. a theme park with the family, just a day around the city, etc. I have to say that fitting my Canon R6 + 2 lenses is a TIGHT squeeze and it will fit nothing else. I could have bought the larger bag but that defeats the purpose of an "every day" bag. The front zip pocket I find difficult to open. Overall, I would realistically use this bag to fit 1 body + 1 lens and my phone and small wallet but nothing else. I do like the bag, love the ash color and the aesthetic of it. I just wish it wasn't so much of a tight squeeze and that the pocket in the front was a little roomier (i.e., large enough for a phone and car keys? It's so slim I could only fit a credit card). So if you're looking to tote around 2+ lenses definitely size up. For 1 lens + 1 body, the 6L should do.

I've had this since 2017 and loved using it extensively, almost daily since Covid. It has a lot of space and the materials are premium. However, unfortunately the zipper ripped. I was quite surprised to see it start to fall apart and was gutted. NOT TO WORRY though, I got in touch with PD and they replaced it with a new one after seeing pictures. Problem solved and appreciate the prompt and very kind response. These days, honouring Lifetime Warranty is more and more difficult to come by. I look for those types of products because normally they last forever and they are backed by great service. With PD this definitively applied!

ALWAYS WITH ME

I bought the 10L sling being a little bit sceptic due to amount of backpacks I have tried and used in the past years. Peak Design has changed the way I look at these kind of products, I have to admit the prices always scared me, but now after using their products after few months I realized the price is more than fair. This sling is the perfect companion for any type of work, it is comfortable and incredible well designed to carry a lot of items. My 5D, 4 lenses and an iPad fit perfectly and almost you don't feel the weight due to the ergonomic design and adjustment. Great job PD team!
