great bag with a critical flaw thats easily fixed

its a great bag that held up mostly well. one critical flaw is the strap. it attatches to some loops on the side that has an adjustable length to make it a cross body or shoulder strap. held up well hiking through some rough terrain. the flaw is how the strap attatches to the bag is an incomplete hook that attaches to the bag but it doesnt have an option to be completely encolsed a better option would be if the strap ends, instead of flimsy plastic hooks had a carabiner or a snap link so that the strap holds on well to the bag. i say this bc during my hike the strap came off and the bag fell to the ground. luckily my camera and lenses in the bag did not break, a testimate to the bag and how well it cushioned the fall but i just wish it didnt happen.

Very versatile pouch.

I use this pouch many ways. Mostly as a hip pouch. I also attach it to my peak design backpack. It is a unique size. I like that it can expand. The reason it is not 5 star is the velcro closure. It works but it could be improved to say 2 small magnet latches. Still usable with one hand. I will say the velcro is very durable and has never released when not supposed to.

Not like field pouch v1

TLDR:
Pros:
- very study materials (just like their everyday v2 line)
- keeps shape
- stronger Velcro than v1
Cons:
- can’t really use for photography/video uses
- cannot fit a small lens since there’s a much smaller pouch than v1
- if using for everyday carry, the smaller pouches inside the zip meant for SD cards and much smaller items are pretty useless
- the sides aren’t as flexible as v1 so when the interior full, it won’t stretch to fit your items well
- peak design anchor link holes were removed and I much prefer that than hooking the links into the v2 attachments. I like to use my PD strap to use this as EDC
- very tight pack when my load is just: small charger, two cables, nose spray and eye drop, utility tool, keyless car key, minimalist wallet. These already pack it to the brim and I can’t even imagine putting in a small lens like my 55 1.8 Zeiss.
If you own the field pouch v1 and you’re going to use it for photography/video, stick with it. I have the first version and I like the pockets in it much better than the smaller pockets on the v2. I find no use for the small pockets inside the zip pouch area when using it as a daily carry. One thing that I feel that was improved though was the sturdiness of it keeping the pouch in shape and the Velcro compared to v1. However, it also reduces the flexibility of the pouch making it less things you can pack. I wish they kept the larger pockets from v1 because you definitely cannot fit any lens inside or bigger items at all.

Painfully Poor Design

This bag gets one star, due to the Velcro being so incredibly harsh. The Velcro manages to snag and damage fabrics, including the nice PD strap I had bought for the camera in the bag. So far, it’s just aesthetic damage, but a lot of the allure of PD products is the clean look. A brand new Smartwool top was also damaged by the Velcro on this bag.
It is very harsh on the skin. I pulled my camera out of the bag to upload photos and the skin on my arm still hurts a bit from the abrasion.
I was being careful about it too, so I can’t imagine what it is like for someone out in the field who is trying to pull something from the bag quickly. I’m very disappointed, because I’ve only used the bag a couple of times, but I am outside of the return window because I bought it a few weeks in advance to take on a 10 day trip, so I’m just stuck with it and hoping I can alter it in some way. I simply can not endorse a product that causes damage to other products.

Great for use as Sling bag!

I bought the field pouch V2 to use it mainly as an everyday bag, since i'm not a photographer. As an owner of 5L Sling, i needed a smaller bag to carry everyday essentials. I was surprised that my iPad mini also nicely fits inside. The quality of the bag is excellent, as every other product (and I own or i have owned 3-4 peak design products). I think it's perfect for what i'm intending to use it. Some comment (maybe for future improvement):
1. in the internal pocket there are 5 places (mainly for memory cards). It would be better if this part was more elastic and not use a fine thread, which I'm pretty sure it will not hold.
2. The strap is a great addition in V2 to use it as a sling bag. But "it's not very peakdesign". For sure i will purchase the Leash soon.

Great everyday errands bag

I have never been a sling bag type of person but i bought this on a whim because of pandemic…..I own some organizers/pouches by PD and (though I haven’t fully used ‘em on trips yet) I know they are of good quality.
I am based in SouthEast Asia and we follow the strictest protocols unlike any other country. Before with only a small pouch in hand doing quick errands, now this sling has been significantly helpful. Going in and out of buildings and stores has proven to be tedious with security guards getting temperature readings, doing bag check-ups and scanning QR codes (for contact tracing)-- a small sling bag is a must have.
It's very light and the flaps work for me compared to zippers which takes time when in a hurry. Easy to clean and spray disinfectant with. So this is an "everyday only-essentials bag" for me.

Unfortunately the strap is not reliable
on October 18, 2024

I bought it two months ago but never used it because the strap they include has slip-on plastic tabs and one side keeps coming un-connected from the cloth loop on the back side of the bag.
Really wanted to like it and use it but unfortunately I'm planning to resale it...

feld pouch makes travel with children easy. Velcro makes it easy to never drop things. Expansion function is awesome. Fits in the everyday backpack side pocket
