Weak rivets and uneven heat

I am struggling to get the entire griddle to heat properly. I have been unsuccessful in seasoning the griddle entirely. It seasoned well around the heating element areas but the outer edges of the griddle will not get hot enough to cook off the oil. Additionally, the heat shield completely broke off while I was putting it together. The rivets fell right apart on each corner. I really want to love this, but my first impression is just, meh.

Assembly

Assembly went pretty well a few things I’d like to mention are that one of the fixed wheels didn’t line up properly with the mounting hole so I had to drill a hole in the leg so it would tighten the wheel to the frame. The other 3 wheels worked perfectly. And second when I place the cooking surface onto the frame the one front right corner wiggles a little.
