Had to replace a desktop after a lighting strike and chose this desktop unit. After I debloated the computer; I got this unit down to 60 processes and it turned into a little blazing fast desktop unit that surprised me. I added 2 things to this unit; a 1TB SSD for extra storage and a little 1050ti GPU I had. This is used for the basic things and playing a few games (which are surprisingly smooth; with the edition of a GPU) such as world of warcraft (I'm averaging 120 fps). The one thing that I DO NOT LIKE about the HP design is the "breakaway" panels in the back; that is dangerous and sharp when adding a video card, a very bad part of the design.
Otherwise if I catch this unit on sale again will I buy one; answer is YES.
I received this computer on the 23rd of August and I am very happy with my purchase. I wanted something up to date that could perform the functions that I needed and this definitely fits the bill. The processing speed is great, video quality is outstanding and the machine is whisper quiet (I've upgraded from two older Envy models and the improvement is sound quality over just a few generations is remarkable). My only issue is the keyboard that came with the unit is a little small for my large man hands, but I think I will be swapping it out with another set I have. Otherwise, no complaints.
This computer has hardware that is typically more than the average person would use, great for cad projects, gaming, or just a computer that has capabilities to do whatever you'd want it to do for today and the future. Considering the cost and value there's no other computer I'd go with.
I have purchased 4 HP computers. And will continue to give HP my patronage. I have always given a 5-Star rating, until now. I've deducted 1 star for the cheesy case. The louvered design might be an attractive way to ventilate, but the louvers buzz. Oh, I can quiet them by any one of several means. But it is an annoying buzz as the computer changes its internal operations. This is BY FAR one of the noisiest computers I have EVER used.
This computer was to replace my HP PC that was 11 yrs old and boy the difference. So far there has been no issues with the computer itself -- everything works as expected with the speed I wanted. The only disappointment is there are NO USB3 ports on the back, only on the front. Otherwise this was a great purchase. Thank you.
I want to learn Adobe Premiere Pro. My old HP from 2015 has been on pretty much 24/7 since I bought it and is still in use. But it was a little short of being able to utilize the Adobe program. Instead of upgrading the old one, I bought a new one and am happy to have done so. This new PC Envy, its handling the program easily.
I got this and I'll have to say it was not a good start. I had searched for several weeks to get this machine and when I received it I was very happy...but then it didn't work. I spent several hours trying to get it to work and resorted to a home repair service to get it to work. Apparently, the memory stick had worked its way loose during transportation causing my dilemma. Once it was figured out it came to life and I have enjoyed it very much. It is a surprisingly small machine and fits on my work station well. It is also very quiet. I have another machine I had build and it is noisy. I got this because of the graphics card and compared to my other machine it is blazingly fast. I'm very happy with the machine but gave it four stars, I debated three but went for four stars because I feel it should have worked straight out of the box and not pay someone to come to my home and do a diagnosis on it and 'repair' it before I could use it.
