[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This "desktop" computer is smaller than my last ENVY desktop and it can actually sit on my desk! No more getting on the floor to add or change cables. Great graphics card, RAM, and storage. Love it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What makes it a "4" and not a "5" is that the high-speed USB ports are on the front of the computer, with the slower ones on the back... this means that I have cables coming out of the front of the computer for the permanent attachments... Otherwise I like this machine. It's fast and quiet... I use it for Photoshop and Dreamweaver mostly.
My chosen configuration for the HP envy desktop is Core i5 with Nvidia 1650 GPU and 256GB solid state drive + 1TB hard disk. This is perfect for all my needs and meets all expectations: fast boot time, no discernable lag in everyday use, no crashes, can run games at high graphics settings.
Speed is blazing fast due to the solid state drive. Very fast booting and shutdown and web pages load in seconds. I have 800 MB internet speed which helps.
I used to have Windows 7 on my old computer and I thought I wouldn't like Windows 10 but I love it. Things are much more organized on Windows 10.
Some folks said that the processor ran hot but I find that it runs very cool. I don't feel any heat from it at all even after using it for 5 or so hours in a row. I suppose if you do gaming on it for 12 hours or more straight that it will get hot but for average web surfing and doing video editing it does not heat up at all.
Love it! Just wish it had a built in Disc player and burner though. Bought an external drive to use on the system.
I've been using this computer for about a month and everything seems solid. The keyboard which came with the hard drive is kinda wiggy but the overall purchase seems great.
