Cannot control print lightness, darkness or do printhead maintenance of any kind. That feature has been completely removed from all menus and in printer properties! Printing really wets the paper with ink and prints, especially colored prints are over inked. Intant ink calculates a whole page for just an extra line of text. Printer tray is flimsy. You have to open the printer to get the PIN for any kinf of information through HP Smart. the printer egisters a cartige change every time you open it for the PIN. HP Smart is anything but Smart. It's dumb and insulting to someone who wants the option of having even minimal control over print quality and maintenance. Calling it an All in One is a strech. Buyer beware. Website acount, my devices doesnt work properly. Even if I were interested in a better printer, I'm not anymore.
I've only been using the printer for a week, but already I've noticed that if a multi page document is printed, the discharge tray is poorly designed to handle more than a few pages. The additional pages get shoved under previously printed pages, so that the order gets messed up. Eventually it causes a jam, which happened when printing a 8 page document. The other difficulty was getting the printer initially setup. I kept getting a message saying "drivers not found". It was many attempts at installing and uninstalling thru the hp smart app to finally get it working. Other than that, the printer is quick and easy to use, and print quality is great for my purposes.
This all-in-one printer is not as good as advertised. (1) I configured the printer as instructed. I tried to set up On/Off times (the printer gives an option to select ON/OFF times for each day of the week) using the touch screen on the printer. The problem is the printer uses ONLY GMT (suitable for users in the U.K). I live in the eastern U.S. I want the printer to come ON at 9 AM, New York time and go OFF at 10 PM New York time. It was not possible. I have given up. (2) I have been using the HP Smart app for printing and scanning documents foryears with the All-in-one 8625 printer which was very good, but failed recently. Now, with the 8135, every time I start the HP Smart, it asks for the printer PIN (although it was required at the initial set up only). Strangely, it gives an error whaen the correct PIN is entered. So, I ignore it by pushing the CANCEL button. (3) The printer crashes sometimes, and does not respond. The only way to restart is PowerOFF/Power ON.
I have not tested it extensively, because we do not print/scan documents every day.
This is my 2nd HP Printer. I just had tor retire my first printer (about 12 years old!) and even though it still worked, it did not have the interface/mechanics (?) to work with new modem and new HP computer I just purchased for WIndows 11. This one is very nice --sleek design, fits on my printing cart, printing is clear and crisp and really nice professional output on all my printing jobs. I am grateful for those attributes as they are important to my small home business. However, the older printer was simple, easy to use and read. This one has an electronic panel that shows you all the functions ( way more than what I need to know) but others might find very useful. It was a breeze to set-up--just follow the very well written directions. I like using a cable rather than wifi, but you need to set it up with wifi and then switch over to cable --this is per the directions for set-up. I am not a tech person at all and I set up both the 1st printer and this one thanks to the printer model and well written steps. I am so happy with the professional quality work this printer is generating! May it last as long as its predecessor!
