A must, but should have been included in my initial purchase. New combo now includes a second battery for roughly the same price I paid for the my camera with a single battery.
Pros: battery backup, easy to install

Back up battery is awesome! Charge well and holds a charge. So happy to be able to just swap out for a charged battery rather than wait for the other to charge.
Didn't have easy access to power for my Garage door opener/camera so purchased the battery as back-up for my Garage unit. Easy to keep the battery charged and easy to switch-out when needed.
This keypad and battery is just plain junk!!!!!!!!

The battery in my new unit is now useless. It is one month old and lasts about 4 days. The small set screw will eventually be stripped out from removing and replacing every few days. DO NOT BUY THIS!!! Chamberlain show be ashamed for producing such poor performing battery. The older style keypad that runs on a 9 volt battery lasts forever and there are never any problems. This is just a terrible battery. Every unit should come with 2 or 3 batteries and the batteries should last like 6 months instead of 6 days or less. Chamberlain battery=JUNK

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the battery is not living up to your expectations, and we would love to suggest adjusting the sensitivity meter to the lowest setting so your battery can last you longer. This will fix your issue. If you are looking to ditch the battery altogether, you now have the option to install a power adapter (MYQ-KH1VXXW). Should you have any questions, we're happy to assist at social@chamberlain.com

The video keypad has two major issues. First is a terrible battery life and when the battery goes dead, you have to unscrew the keypad to take the battery out to charge. The second problem is that when the garage doors down it won’t raise the garage door it works fine when the garage door is up but not when it’s down I have full bars for the connection and the video is fine but I can’t open the garage door, so it is worthless to me.
Pros: Sturdy, WiFi Capable

Hello Canton, we are sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with not only batter life but also connectivity. Should you need further technical assistance, please email social@chamberlain.com. We are happy to help.
Put this at my Mom's house to help monitor the driveway for safety. The battery dies quickly and I'm paranoid about stripping the screw. I feel like getting rid of this set up and going with a direct wired Ring camera mounted on the garage somewhere for security and not having another "to do" on my task list in maintaining two houses. This is a very bad design. it's as if it was designed by people who think that consumers have plenty of time to disconnect the thing every 3-4 weeks.
Pros: WiFi Capable

Hello Faris, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Video Keypad and battery. I am sorry to hear of your experience and that it did not meet your expectations.
To maximize the battery life of your myQ Video Keypad, we recommend setting your Motion Sensitivity Meter to either the low, or lowest setting. This will ensure your keypad is only capturing events immediate to your garage door proximity.
Wi-Fi signal strength also plays a significant factor in the battery life performance of your device. You can view your Wi-Fi network strength in the myQ app under the Video Keypad Device Management Settings section.
There are several ways to improve your Wi-Fi connection for your device, including moving your router closer to your device or purchasing a Wi-Fi extender. The myQ Video Keypad must be within 50 feet of your Wi-Fi router if it is broadcasting a 5GHz signal. If you connect to a 2.4GHz signal, your router can be up to 150ft in distance. To ensure best performance, it is recommended to have your myQ Video Keypad connected to a 2.4GHz network. If you're still having issues, please get in touch with us at support.chamberlaingroup.com
Should you need further help, have any comments, concerns or questions, please email us at social@chamberlain.com and include this review, so we can get in contact with you to resolve the issue. Thank you!
