I was very excited to add this video keypad fo have multiple codes to access the garage. However just after 3 weeks the battery completely drained and I shut off all motion defection after the first day or two when I noticed the battery drain. I ordered a second battery to switch it out and that battery is already down to 77% after only a few days. This should be a huge priority to fix the battery glitch. Then I would give it 5 stars.

Sadly, a great product and concept is destroyed by poor design implementation and short battery life. I bought a second battery for my wireless keypad because it drains far too quickly for the intended use. Short of parking my router in my garage beside the keypad (thereby rendering my WiFi useless in the rest of the house), I am not sure who this works well for.
Adding to this is that I reside in a cold climate and the screw to remove the keypad is so lilliputian that only a gnome can handle it with gloves on, nevermind find it again in the snow when one invariably drops it three times trying to get the thing screwed back in using the Ken doll screwdriver set.

Not happy at all with my video keypad

I bought my video key pad two weeks ago and have had to recharge the battery twice already. Not happy at all. I also have issues with video and internet connection. I had my internet provider come to house and update all my equipment so as to improve my connection. However with all the upgrades etc I still have issues. In the menu the internet states I have only a fair connection however when conducting a speed test I am getting over 100/75 speeds. Tried calling tech support about the battery and internet connection and the service was absolutely horrible. I even ordered a new battery to see if that works. If not going to thro the pad out and start fresh with another brand.
Pros: easy to install

Terrific Concept - Terrible Battery

Like others, the weak battery is a huge pain. One would need to charge the battery bi-weekly to avoid the third week blues. At the price point of the device, a spare battery should have been provided. Instead, a spare battery costs nearly half a new device!

Is not very helpful. Our garage owns/closes 8x a day, and we only get 3 weeks of battery life.
MyQ should consider lowering the price of the battery.

Hello Ryan, thank you for your review and feedback on the myQ Video Keypad and battery. The myQ Video Keypad is tested to operate from -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C). Extremely cold weather can unfortunately impact the lithium-ion batteries used in many smart home devices, and as the temperature drops the battery will begin to have trouble holding a charge. At freezing temperatures, the battery may run out of power more quickly and require more frequent charges. As the temperature goes up your keypad will return to normal operation.
