[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Switching to this dryer was a big change for me, as my prior unit was a gas dryer that dried clothes incredibly fast. I never really paid attention to energy efficiency before, but since this model heavily advertised it, I decided to connect an energy meter to my home’s electrical panel to compare usage. Despite requiring its own 30A outlet (compared to the old unit’s 20A), the difference in energy consumption is massive—this dryer uses about 60–70% less energy per load than the gas dryer did. That’s a big win.
When researching heat pump technology, I was prepared for longer drying times, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by this dryer’s performance. It handles loads effectively, even with the gentler heat cycle that comes with the auto-dry feature. I’m pretty meticulous with my laundry—similar fabrics together, jeans inside out, no dryer sheets—and I’ve noticed that the lower, more even heat is much gentler on my clothing compared to the high, direct heat from my old gas dryer.
Connecting the unit to SmartThings was quick and seamless. I didn’t realize how useful a notification for a completed load would be until I had it. I haven’t dived into all the custom load options yet (the interface seemed a little overwhelming at first glance), but so far, auto-dry has handled everything from towels to delicates without issue.
Overall, I’m impressed with the energy efficiency and performance of this ventless heat pump dryer. It does take a little longer than my old unit, but the trade-off in energy savings and fabric care is well worth it. I’m looking forward to seeing how it holds up over time.

Efficiency, Portability and Versatility in a dryer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung's Large Capacity Ventless Hybrid Heat Pump Electric Dryer with Wi-Fi (DV45DG6000HWA2) is a welcome addition to an aging laundry room. This dryer was made with large families and exhausted parents in clear focus! I love that I can just throw the clothes from the washer in, and trust it to have the right settings to dry without much more than hitting "start". If we had an upstairs closet, the ventless option here would warrant serious consideration for us bringing it there, so the family could easily pull items as needed. Since there is no vent, the water tank becomes the only hassle - but its not much of one - it requires a bit of care if you don't have an adjacent bathroom or laundry sink, since it is about 2.5' long. As others have said, it would have been a great option to have a setting to push the water out an optional hose (since it likely shares a room with your washer & the drain is most likely there already!
My other suggestion is a better lint trap - this does a good job of collecting lint; however, the booklet design of nested filters makes cleaning it out a hassle vs older dryers where you could merely roll up the accumulated lint from the single-sheet mesh screen without ever leaving the dryer
For each of these i'd deduct one star; however for the ease and benefit of the mobile application, energy monitoring/savings, and sensor drying, it grabs some back.
I'm giving this 4.5/5 stars - only because it's such an obvious benefit that could have been realized to flush the tank automatically, does it not quite gain back the last half star.
Otherwise, I'm happy with this upgrade to the look, feel, and intelligence of the laundry room!
