I've never had a Vitamix before, or a blender with a tamper before, so this was a major upgrade. I feel like my blender has become my whole personality, I talk about it so much. Breakfast smoothies have never been smoother, and I swear they taste better now. The tamper is a game changer!

Old Blendtec burned out (10 years about 2k uses) - bought an X5 - night and day. Makes the Blendtec look like a toy. Perfect nut butters, smoothies, and just about anything. Ultra stable on counter. Tamper is a good thing. Easy to clean. X5 gives you best of both worlds- easy presets as well as adjusting knob - recommend without any reservations.
