Very Noisy

I replaced my 15 year old 1 HP In-Sink-Erator with this one because it was starting to make some "noises". It had been very quiet and we have been very happy with it. The new one is very noisy!! I thought it would quiet down after being used but no luck. When in use there is a loud "growling noise" even with 2 baffles in the throat. It has overheated twice and stopped running even though there were no hard bones being ground. We had a professional plumbing firm we have used for years install it. I would replace it with if I didn't have so much money sunk into it.
Pros: easily installed
Cons: very noisy, overheats quickly
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I really like the dishwasher inlet and how they have a blocker that can be reinserted, it makes the dishwasher silent. The electric hookup is very nice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it’s a plastic housing. However if it were made of something more durable I suppose it would be heavier as well as more expensive. I only worry about how large it is under the sink and someone being to ruff passing something pass it and cracking the housing.
Pros: dishwasher hookup, install features, power
Cons: plastic housing

Great disposal

We replaced a 1/2 HP unit with this one. It won't handle the rind of a cantaloupe unless it is cut into 3x3 pieces. Not a big deal but a slight ding in ratings.
This unit is very quiet.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a disposal.
Pros: quiet, efficient
Cons: need to make smaller chunks

1-HP Product is powerful

I changed out an older model Insinkerator 1-hp disposal recently with a new version of the Insinkerator 1-hp model for our remodeled kitchen. The newer model motor is much noisier than the older model. Not a fan of the increased noise of the newer model. Seems the motor design was perhaps changed. The older model still worked great and was quiet, but wife wanted everything new in the totally remodeled kitchen.
Pros: like the lifetime in-home warranty
Cons: noisier than previous version of same disposal
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Unbelievably quiet

The installation was very easy, a simple direct replacement of the old unit. The Insinkerator is so quiet, that I literally first thought it was not working. The prior unit was loud enough that you have to raise your voice to be heard if speaking while it is operating. No so with the new Insinkerator.
Pros: quiet operation, easy installation

I had an Inskinkerator that was 20+ years old. That played into my decision on which brand to get this time. I figured that the same brand would use the same mount to the sink, and I was right. Also, we got 20+ years out of the previous one, so this one could be the last disposer I need. Taking out the old one wasn’t too bad. Just remember, these things are HEAVY. When it is free from the sink, be prepared. One of the features on the new one said “EZ Grip Handles”. They are NOT handles. It’s simply textured rubber on the outside of the unit. My hands were wet from the old unit, so it wasn’t easy to grip. My wife grabbed it from the top and held it in place while I turned the collar to lock it in place. That was key on getting it installed. My only other complaint is the rubber insert that goes in the sink has a very small opening, and the rubber is stiff. It makes it a bit difficult to get scraps into the unit. I will say it is MUCH quieter than the old one. Hopefully it lasts as long as the 444 model we had previously. One final thing, it isn’t an issue with the product, but more with Amazon. When I opened the box, the collar was already assembled. It appeared that it was an open box, but it wasn’t advertised that way.
Pros: matched previous collar
Cons: misleading info on handles, may have been an open box

Get This One! Watch when you are cleaning products other than food in sink.

Best to get the top of the line if for nothing than the quiet. I think my last Insinkerator 1HP would have lasted forever but unfortunately it ate a ball bearing I could not see caused it to fail. So my suggestion is that if you are cleaning something in the sink other than food, best to insert a fine mesh strainer in place of the rubber sound muffler when doing so. Hey Insinkerator, including an inexpensive strainer with the product and tagging it with use instructions may not be a bad idea.

On the third unit

I've had three one horse power Insinkerators over a number of years in my condominium apartment. They are easy to install and work well. However, their life span in not great. The second one I had lasted a year before froze up. The one prior to that got very noisy. So this is my third Insinkerator. I've kept with them as the installation is easy. Maybe the third time is a charm. I would like to send both of my old units back to the factory to get a read on what's going on.
I do like the new power connection system.
Pros: works well, easy to install
Cons: reliabiulity

Hi JefftheNuke, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are pleased to hear that the installation process has been easy for you. Although a disposer should last for many years, its lifespan can be affected by factors such as usage, water quality, and the type of waste put through it. We are sorry to hear about the issues you've had with previous disposers. The unusual noise and jammed disposer are problems that we can still help you with. We have a troubleshooting guide available that can assist you in resolving these issues. If you need further assistance, please contact us at https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask. We appreciate your continued support of our InSinkErator product.
