Poor grind and louder compared to Supreme SS

Swapped from a Supreme Evolution SS (discontinued) to the Advanced 1HP...Bad all around, could not grind a lemon.. It sat in there for 5 minutes until I manually removed it. Additionally its 5 decibels louder than the Supreme SS (I measured with a decibel meter.

Hi JJSE, thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear that your new unit is not performing up to your expectations. The Evolution 1.0HP features 4-stage MultiGrind® Technology, which focuses on fineness of grind over speed. This technology is designed to virtually eliminate drain line blockages caused by food waste and to reduce odors. Since the disposer grinds food waste to smaller/finer particles, it may take longer to grind certain items compared to other disposers. For instance, fruit peels like bananas, lemons, limes, or oranges have smooth, rubbery textures, which require more time for the grinding components to break them down. About the sound level, several factors can cause the disposer to run louder than normal. These may include the material of your sink, how well the sink is secured, and the type of food being ground. You can visit our troubleshooting guide here that may help resolve the issue: https://support.insinkerator.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/518. We're always looking for ways to enhance our products, and your feedback is greatly appreciated. Extremely disappointing

Oranges keep spinning in the middle and are not shredded. Looks like depending on the position your garbage hits the bottom, it simply will keep spinning and will not be shredded. I keep having to manually remove the orange peels and arranging them in a certain position so that they actually get shredded. Extremely disappointing.

Hi CarolS24, we're sorry to hear that you're having an issue with the performance of your unit. Our new advanced series Evolution 1.0 HP disposer has 4-Stage MultiGrind® Technology and has been designed to prevent clogs. Since it grinds food waste to smaller/finer particles, it may take longer to grind certain items such as banana, lemon, lime, and orange peels. Due to the smooth or rubbery peels, it takes more time for the grind components to break down the skin of these fruits. We recommend grinding peels in smaller amounts or combining these with other, heavier food waste items, such as fruit pits or bones. We appreciate you sharing your feedback with us, and we'll be sure to share it with our disposer team. If we can do anything else for you, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team at https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask.

I don't like it at all.

Don't waste your time. I bought the Top of the line 1HP advanced. It is noisy and I just now tried out, it was installed today October 13th 2025. I put a squash down this unit and after 20 seconds I looked to see how it worked the squash was still there in the center. I don't like this unit at all. Even though you will read on the box it is quite it is far from quite. The older units were great. I wish my old one did not give out.

Hi Joey, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your new unit is not performing up to your expectations. Although InSinkErator motors are particularly quiet, the noise of a disposer can sometimes be affected by the material of the sink, how well the sink is secured, what is being ground in the disposer, etc.
This model features 4-stage MultiGrind® Technology, which focuses on fineness of grind over speed. Because it grinds food waste into much smaller particles, it may take a bit longer to grind certain items compared to other disposers. Try running the disposer with a moderate flow of cold water for a longer amount of time.

Noisy disposal replacement

Insinkerator replaced my Prestige-2 due to failure. It was replaced with the Evolution 55ss. I thought it would be equivalent, but it is so noisy. It says it’s very quiet but nope. My previous disposal was so quiet.

Hello SteveB! Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear that your replacement disposal seems noisier than expected. The Evolution 55SS is designed with advanced sound seal technology to minimize noise compared to standard models. However, the overall sound level can still vary based on factors such as sink material, surrounding cabinetry, and installation setup. We appreciate your bringing this to our attention. If there’s anything we can assist you with, please contact our customer support at https://support.insinkerator.com/app/ask. We're here to help.

High-Quality Solid Disposal

I own rental properties, so I (unfortunately!) replace disposals multiple times every year. I use the Evolution 1.0HP disposal because it has the best quality. It costs more than other disposals, but it also lasts longer than other disposals, meaning that I don't need to replace it as often. A relatively new feature is the lift-and-lock feature, and that feature makes the installation vastly easier. With the old technology, you had to lift the heavy disposal with one hand while using the other hand to align and rotate the mounting ring. With the new technology, I can use both hands to lift the disposal and twist it onto the mounting bracket. Once I secure the disposal to the bracket, I can then rotate it back to align with my drain pipe.

Powerful!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Installation of this guy was pretty straight forward. It is a larger garbage disposal that our last so we had to re-do the trap because of its size. My husband is pretty handy so it was no problem. The power behind this model is excellent! The splash guard was a bit stiff and food wasn’t making it down with ease so my husband made a cut in it so food could easily be push into it and it’s perfect.
Pros: powerful, easy to install if you know what you’re doing
Cons: splash guard was tight but it was an easy fix

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What a great addition to my kitchen. I love how i do not have to clean the chunks out of the strainer anymore, something i hated doing. I love how quiet the machine is compared to others. It was a very easy install too. It is big so make sure it will fit into your sink first.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I couldn't be more pleased with my new insinkerator Evolution 1 HP Garbage Disposal ! This bad boy is a beast! It is easy installation if you're a bit of a handy man. This machine is surprisingly quiet for packing a 1 hp motor! I like that it doesn't bog down no matter what you throw at its way. It very well balanced while running. If you have ever had a cheap disposal then you know that they can shimmy and shake no matter how locked down they are. I highly recommend this disposal , it doesn't disappoint!!
Pros: quiet, gets any job done, balanced
Cons: big
