[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I upgrades from the z fold 4 to the z flip 6 in white and I am loving it. The build quality, form factor, and software experience have been great. The galaxy AI features are cool and hopefully they continue to add more.

A lot of improvement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There's been a lot of improvement from the flip 5 to flip 6. Galaxy AI is a nice touch for photo editing and some of the other monotonous tasks I do on my phone. However, I'm impressed with the improved battery life and improved camera. There's still room for growth, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Hopefully the next one will check the rest of the boxes.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] New to Galaxy AI, but willing to give this a try! I love the bigger feel and outer shell for the fold 6 compared to my old flip 4. The features are impressive and love personalizing the device.

Samsung Z Flip 6 has the right edge
on July 29, 2024

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the updated camera to the exterior lines borrowed from the Galaxy S24 along with the almost unrecognizable crease on the interior this device delivers. Having owned all iterations of the flip this one really brings all the bells and whistles. With the latest processor to the new one UI 6.1.1 which includes a bevy of Galaxy AI features you won't want to miss such as circle to search and the new interpreter mode. If you have not joined the flip life now is the time!
BACKGROUND I upgraded to this phone from the Fold 5 in Icy Blue. In fact, I have owned every Fold device since the Fold 2. My phone is the 512GB version in Navy purchased during the pre-order. I used Samsung Smart Switch to transfer everything from my Fold 5 to the new Fold 6.
CHANGES Things added from the Fold 5 to the Fold 6: Hardware 1. Wider cover display (by a couple millimeters). -->This is slightly noticeable, but less so once you install a protective case 2. Device is lighter -->Noticeable 3. Device is “thinner” -->I don’t know how manufacturers are allowed to claim thinness when the camera “bump” essentially doubles that reported thickness. The reason why I object to this is that this “thinner” device will also not lay flat when opened. In fact, since I insist on the device laying flat when opened, I buy a case that is necessarily quite thick to compensate for that camera bump and allow the device to lay flat when opened. 4. Inner display crease is less significant -->I saw and read reviews that overinflated the crease and minimized the improvement. As someone who frequently uses the phone opened with the S Pen to swipe to type, I can tell you that the crease hasn’t just improved visually (I’d say that it’s about 50% better so that you can now only see it off axis/not straight ahead). It is also less noticeable to your finger or S Pen. On the Fold 5, my finger or S Pen would “catch” slightly in the dip, but that doesn’t happen on the Fold 6. That creates a dramatically improved experience (and swipe typing accuracy) 5. IP Rating of IP48 -->Getting an IP rating was the best thing that happened to the Fold series and now it is rated to resist dirt as small as 1mm. Keep in mind this will still allow true “dust” smaller than that to enter the device, so don’t put it inside a vacuum cleaner bag.🤔 6. Hinge movement -->The hinge on my Fold 5 was much more difficult to open (especially without a case on the phone) than the Fold 6. Amazingly, the hinge on the Fold 6 is easier to open without any loss in the ability to hold itself open at virtually any angle.
Software A. One UI 6.1.1 -->A lesser published fact for this is that the Galaxy Ring function of tap to activate the shutter for the phone is currently only on this version of OneUI, which means it’s only on the Fold/Flip 6 for now. B. AutoBlocker -->I understand the desire to protect people who can’t tell the difference between safe/reputable software and its opposite, but you should know that this affects more than what you might anticipate. I lost a very old – but extraordinary financial software (AN Money) that was created and sold through Google Play for Android 7 or earlier. That software ran just fine on Android 14 on my Fold 5, performing better than brand new apps (it even worked fine as a pop-up window). Previously, using SmartSwitch to transfer everything from one Samsung phone to the next provided a “backdoor” to migrate this awesome app to the next phone. However, since Auto Blocker is turned on by default, that operation was blocked before any human could intervene to override/turn off that feature. This is something to keep in mind if you are in a similar situation using apps that are no longer “installable” under the Android ecosystem due to having too low of a “score” (aka, being too old). C. Galaxy AI -->The sketch to draw feature is a silly/fun toy, but really that’s all it is. If your hoping for it to turn you into Michelangelo, you’re going to be disappointed. As for the other AI stuff, it’s unlikely that you’ll have a use for it. And it’s only starting out on the Fold/Flip 6; it’ll be rolling out to all the flagship phones. -->The one that does look interesting to me and that I’d like to try is the Live Translate feature to attempt a conversation with my Armenian neighbor to see how that works. Might turn out to be embarrassing, but maybe it’ll be like Star Trek’s Universal Translator. Wouldn’t that be cool… D. Samsung Gear Read Aloud -->Something odd happened between the Fold 5 and the Fold 6. I have certain notifications read aloud over my Buds 2 Pro when the device is locked. On the Fold 5 the voice defaulted to Voice 1 (female voice) but on the Fold 6 it defaulted to Voice 2 (less pleasant male voice) I had to go into TTY Settings to temporarily turn on that system-wide setting so that I could change the voice back to Voice 1. Odd that it would do that. I mention this because I’m unlikely to be the only one to whom this happened.
SUMMARY The phone hardware continues to advance almost to the point that it exceeds the ability of a case to successfully protect the cover screen (and stay in place). The bezels are so narrow that the left side of any case on the cover screen will have a difficult time balancing being enough to protect that side of the screen and being narrow enough to not cover any pixels. That’s a good problem to have the such a narrow display as it does bring it closer to the pixel width of a typical slab phone.
I have been a fan of the folding/combination phone & tablet in 1 device since it first debuted. This iteration is about as refined as this form factor can be and maintain all the features is sports. I would highly recommend this phone to anyone who currently has a slab phone and a tablet (as I used to). If your usage is like mine (I frequently use complex Excel files and Word documents on my Fold), you might just be able to save money – yes, save – money by buying just the Fold instead of a flagship phone and quality Android tablet.
I HIGHLY recommend the phone to the productivity-minded.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best compact smart phone!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Going back to a folding phone feels so nostalgic and is so useful. Being able topl place the Samsung flip in small pockets feels more secure than other smart phones. The cover screen is very innovative. It's so easy to check notifications and be able take better selfies. Using Galaxy AI bring a new level of amazing photos. I was able to add multiple cats on my father just from sketching simple shapes. This is a phone that I'll be happy using for years.
I really like the design. It's lighter and more sleek. The color I chose is pink, which is really pretty. However, it's a shame that there's no promotion on how to get the Samsung Care 1-year subscription that Samsung is giving to those who pre-order.
