[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Some great features, but having the vessel stop where it started is very nice.

Poor quality control

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Poor quality control. The first one, the door wouldn’t open. The second one, the door wouldn’t close. The current one, our third, the clock doesn’t work. At least the door works properly and the unit functions ok. I’m afraid to try again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Works as expected

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Still getting used to the buttons compared to our very old model but it works as expected. Pretty sure I bought the largest microwave available, but it made sense for the price compared to the smaller ones. I also figured it was better to have and not need than to need and not have.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Broke in 4 months

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It broke and I've been waiting 4 weeks for a replacement.
It just stopped heating 1 day, and this one was already a replacement since my first one was less than a year old.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's ok, but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My very first experience with this microwave was not being able to even open the door! The microwave has a child lock. Every time the door is closed, the child lock engages. I assume it works off of an actuator of some sort. If it fails.. you cannot open the door. You can push on the button that is supposed to open the door all you want, and it simply will not open. I was without the microwave for a couple of weeks, the time it took the builder to get their appliance provider to replace it (and yes, the builder also tried to open it, we both tried to disengage the lock via the manual, etc to no avail. The builder also said he has had this issue with several other homeowners in the community and replaced their microwaves as well).
The new unit has been working so far (3 months in), but each and every time I use it, I wonder if this is the time it won't give me my food back. This is an example of how companies continue to rely on more and more technology but rarely thinks about what happens when that technology fails. I'd rather just have a microwave that the door opener was just a good, old-fashioned, non-electronic, push it to open it kind.
I also noticed that the reheat function isn't very accurate. My previous GE Profile microwave had a sensor, which I believe this one does too, that can tell when the food is thoroughly cooked, without completely nuking it to beyond being edible. This KitchenAid microwave seems to reheat some dishes way too long, while others come out cold. The reheat function also doesn't continue its function if you open the door to check on it. Closing the door and resuming just puts 30 seconds on the clock, and that's it. It'll then stop after that 30 seconds whether the food is ready or not.
I just don't feel this model was well thought out and has been less than satisfactory in my opinion.
