Sometimes "upgrades" are NOT upgrades

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to purchase another (fromt loader) Whirlpool washer (and dryer) set, because my last set (Duet) lasted 20 years, and actually they still worked, I just chose to take advtange of the Presidents Day sale, and get a new set. Whirlpool is the way to go. But I've got to admit, I'm not actually impressed with this newer set afterall. Many good upgrades, but some upgrades are "not good". For example, why have a "remote" start (on app) that turns off automatically when the load is done? Plenty of times I've wanted to maybe rinse again or even just a spin...and the remote is now "disabled". Super frustrating. Another frustrating feature that is gone, is the ability to chose the temperature of my water for each load. They are predetermined. I don't like that at all. And one of the biggest issues I had, is on the very first day I got it, no where did it tell me I HAD to download the app just to get the machine to WORK! I was soooo frustrated. What happened to having a manual come with the machine? I'm 54 and feel I'm pretty technically smart but never in my wildest dreams did I think I HAD to have an app, especially when there are LARGE BUTTONs right on the machine itself! I've done laundry my entire life, pretty simple. Turn it on, pick your load, water, etc...and go. Nope. Not this one. And I didn't even buy the most technological machine. ALL I know is, I feel sorry for the older folks... It took me hours to figure it out. Maybe put a giant sticker on the front that says DOWNLOAD APP to START.
There was a QR Code sticker, which I thought was for the manual, NOPE. It was a link to take me to Whirlpool to BUY more appliances. Hahah, like I can't even get the newest one to work, why would I buy another one? Look I love Whirlpool, but you all did not make good choice on this one. Keep to the basics please. Stop trying to be LG or Samsung.
