Read the instructions!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My past experience with making coffee at home were the classic drip coffee makers, pour over, cups, and most recently the Nespresso. This thing felt like a Rolls Royce when I was unboxing it. I think the stainless steel finish is stunning. Now the most important thing a consumer needs to know about this machine is “With great power comes great responsibility” this machine puts making the drink of your dreams in YOUR hands. With that being said, you need to thoroughly read and follow the instructions for first use, espresso how to’s, and also maintenance and cleaning your new machine. For first time users getting a nice espresso pull may take practice, however, there is plenty of guidance included in the literature to help you get there quickly. For those who appreciate the art of espresso over the convenience of a press and play kcup, the extra effort will be worth it. The smell of freshly ground beans in the morning, the endless ways you can personalize your drink, the satisfaction of learning a new skill… I would definitely recommend this machine to a friend.

Not user friendly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This espresso machine by KitchenAid is foolproof. We had a previous machine that made OK drinks but was really hard to use and clean. This one grinds beans fresh, steams milk easily and makes a very, very good latte.
The only real downside is that the steamer is incredibly loud. Overall, this quickly became part of our daily routine and I prefer our lattes to many chain coffee shops.

I’ve never used something like this before so I definitely had to read the instructions a few times. I’ve used it a couple times and haven’t had any issues with it grinding or brewing.

Good once figured out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would like to start by saying that once you figure out how to work this and figure out the best combinations for your preferences, this is a very nice machine. My only complaint with this machine is the instructions do not set you up for success. There is no overview of error codes, buttons flashing, etc. One instruction just reads “press the priming pump” with no diagram or further instruction as to what this is. When directed to go online for videos and further instructions, there are none available. There is no list of what is included with the machine, which means I was surprised to find additional baskets and a cleaning spool underneath the machine when I removed the drawer for cleaning. I also found what they meant when they said priming pump! There is nothing in the instructions saying that this storage drawer even exists.
Ultimately once I got this up and running, it worked well and I was happy with the drink I made. It is a nice looking machine, and is a good size for the counter—- smaller than I was expecting based on the box, which I am happy about. I like the ability to have fresh ground beans for my espresso. I just wish there was more pictures and resources to help with set up and troubleshooting!

I think that it’s a great grinder because it’s easy to use and the instruction manual was easy to understand.
