A wonderful addition to a WFH life!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This semi-automatic espresso machine with burr grinder is a wonderful add to our kitchen! We traveled to France this summer and enjoyed the French cafe from the boulangeries and patisseries across the cities. Little did I know that transitioning to our own espresso machine upon our return would be so easy and so wonderful.
Many thanks to my SIL for gifting me this machine -- it's an amazing addition to my entrepreneurial WFH lifestyle.

Wouldn't Start & Leaks All Over Countertop

I just unpacked this and had to press the Temp, On, & Start button many different times to get it to prime.
Once primed, it leaked water all over my countertop.
Kitchenaid has known about this leaking issue and decided to ship me a faulty product, why?

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Was told to send two machines back because I was told by customer service it wasn’t normal to have water draining into the drip tray and then got a third machine and the pressure gauge doesn’t work at all and it still waste a bunch of clean water. Apparently it’s normal for it to use a decent amount of water even when just making a shot of espresso since it always drains into the drip tray… which means emptying the drip tray every couple days and filling the water tank more often than you’d think. I guess that’s why the water tank is larger than others it waste a bunch in the drip tray…. Tired of the hassle of returning machines and really disappointed I can’t get a refund.. and I’m not even the type of person to complain but this has been a disappointing purchase.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Makes good espresso. Has one easily fixable issue

First, I have to say this machine is quiet and brews just fine. It's SEMI automatic, which means you need to do some work ton get the best out of the machine.
Now, to address a common complaint.
If you read the non-incentivised reviews, you'll see complaints about water leaking from the machine. The issue appears to be the internal drain tube not properly entering the hole in the drip tray cover causing the drain water to drain onto the top of the cover and out of the machine. If you remove the drip tray cover, and install the tray with only the metal front cover, you should not have any issues. I'm not sure why the drip tray cover was designed with a raised hole instead of a flush hole in the cover. An easy fix for KitchenAid is to modify the design slightly.
A tip for users: the descale function will output a liter or so of water. The user manual says to place a container to catch the water, but does not state how big the container should be. I feel like this should be noted in the manual. Make sure you are using a suitably sized container --- a small bowl or cup will not do.
If the drip tray cover had a better design, I would give five stars.
