This griddle is everything I wanted and the performance more than exceeds my expectations. After cooking on other griddles this thing is superior. The only thing I wish was a little clearer is more transparency with all the different models and options that the stores carry.
I've had the 30" Slate for about a month now and despite the cold weather I've been determined to get plenty of use out of my new griddle.
It's well designed, looks and feels like a quality product. Cooking on it so far has been great. The controls are very adjustable and do what you ask of them. The griddle surface itself is not totally evenly heated - where the three burners run vertically it's always hotter. I like that the grease trap is at the front, making for easy disposal. The foil trays are a bit pricey though. Most of all I like the fact that there has no sign of any rust - time may tell but it's just as Weber promised. I thought the side shelf size was going to be too big but they've proven to be very useful.
So far I've cooked potatoes, chicken, thinly-sliced beef for cheesesteaks, burgers, and lots of different veggies. I sold my kamari and smoker as I needed to downsize. I think the Slate is going to suit most of my outdoor cooking needs.
Awesome job on steaks for Christmas dinner! Wife verry happy with the results. Cleans up excellently. Heats evenly, my girls gave it to me for Christmas, what a great gift. Hint: They said seasoning wasn't needed but I did it anyway. Dad was a chef and I learned early.
Weber Slate Grill is a new way of grilling for us. So far we are enjoying it and learning as we go. Smash burgers are one of our faves so far! We also have a regular Weber gas grill so we use both.
This Is truly the Cadillac of griddles and makes cooking fun and easy, especially with all the attachments and Caddy. My only complaint is that decides on this model do not collapse making it a bit more difficult to store.
