I wish I had read some of the negative reviews prior to buying. I give up trying to get the bow to stay together, which is about a quarter of the way through the set. I really looked forward to this set, but I'm done with it.

Is a very clever and fun set from a creative perspective, however when it comes time to build the bow...after your 20th try to keep it together...you will likely give up and put it away unfinished. Very poorly engineered build where each side of the bow is held by a single blue piece and very difficult to keep together as attaching one side of the bow promptly detaches the other side. Read the reviews.

Worst Build Ever

I bought this last year when it was first released and waited forever to get it built. This was one of the worst builds ever. The boat felt flimsy once built and some parts on the shark were hard to understand the directions.

We're sorry you're having trouble keeping your set together. If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to give us a shout at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can help!
Bag 4 is full of pieces that don't match the instructions and does not have the pieces specified by the instructions. In fact several of the pieces are not listed in the inventory at all. Seems to be a known thing as I could find instructions online from non lego sources to build that section and have it work with the pieces provided.

I absolutely love the movie, went back and forth on purchasing this and finally grabbed it. I was so excited. I generally like the art pieces best but enjoyed the Cullen house build so figured I would enjoy this as well. Some parts were fun to build but the bow of the ship was a nightmare. I put it together 3 times and each time it fell apart. I thought it was me so checked reviews. I contemplated like others but opted to try again. I got it to stay together but was so nervous to touch or move it for fear it would fall apart and it almost did when moving it to the platform. Also, attaching the underside of the ship after the masts seems counterproductive. Jaws himself is cool until you want to attach him the diorama, then you have half a shark laying around. Overall I like it but had I known what I know now I likely would've skipped it.

Frustrating to put together, terrific when done

The idea and the look are beautiful, and the finished scene is unusually dramatic and exciting. Generally speaking the bow of the boat is WAY too sensitive. Specifically, those pretty blue pieces (part number 6071246) always fell off mid-build & caused the bow to fall apart. I almost gave up completely but finally decided those pieces did not seem critical to supporting the structure and left them out. The shark also shed some pieces when I unhooked his top half from the shark stand to pose him at the rear of the boat. An aggravating build requiring considerable care and patience but one that was ultimately rewarded with a scene that really impresses anyone who sees it.

So many plastic bags

The build was fun overall - a few slightly frustrating connection points but otherwise good.
The one thing that surprised me is the excessive amount of single use plastic bags. They were recycled ,of course, but there has to be a better solution while still aiding in the staged, linear build process.
