Disappointed

My son and I have built a lot of LEGO sets over the years, Titanic, Saturn V rocket, Lighthouse, Space Shuttle, etc, some of the most complicated LEGO builds.
I bought the new JAWS set and was disappointed. First time ever we were missing parts in 30+ sets and the overall build process had some flaws, something I’ve never seen before. Especially in the bow, there is a weak spot that you don’t discover until several steps later when it fails, after disassembling and reassembling the bow 3-4 times my son and I went to his LEGO stash(which takes up half the living room) and found some parts to correct the issue. Per the instructions and parts, the bow is not as secure as you’d expect from LEGO. The entire structure of the bow relies on a one stud connection to hold almost the entire bow together.
My overall review is that LEGO rushed this set. They should have taken a little more time in the process to prevent some of these flaws. It would have been a simple fix just by adding an additional small part.
Just my opinion.

I wanted this to be so much more!

I really wanted to like this set more than I did. Finished product is very cool and as a New Englander the boat fits in well. This was, however, the first set I've ever had to get out the dreaded super glue to get the front of the bow to stay attached - literally any amount of pressure and the whole front assembly just crumbled in my hands. (and I have literally built hundreds of sets). The set felt rushed, the book didn't have fun stories or takes of movie like others have had, the design seemingly wasn't from Lego experts who typically engineer these sets to be perfection. A cool set, but you certainly tell it's an Ideas set and didn't go through the rigor (I assume) of some of the past releases.

Frustrating

I rebuilt the bow at least 3 times completely and the sections with the boat registration numbers too many times to count. I finally broke out the kraggle and it has stopped falling apart. Those nasty little curved blue pieces should be glued as well but I did not feel like taking it all apart again.
Lego is supposed to be fun to build. This one is not. Have been told several times to stop or take a break or just throw it out.
This was not engineered correctly.
First time that Lego has disappointed me.
I have “finished” step 8. Not sure when I will try to finish the rest of the build.

Thanks for sharing your feedback, and we're sorry you've not enjoyed your build on this occasion. We don’t recommend applying glue or kraggle to LEGO® bricks. We're always here to help if you're having stability issues with your set. Feel free to give us a call or chat at LEGO.build/Service-BV so we can take a closer look.

What an awful build . We have built over 100 sets Disney castle , Harry Potter , all the space shuttles and rockets , this by far is the worst , cheapest set ever . The horrible little blue piece that basically holds the bow together breaks every-time , We had to take apart about 20 times trying to keep it together. Terrible design , this one needs to get pulled bc it’s a definite flaw ! Do your sanity a favor and do not buy this set !

I regret buying the JAWS set, terrible build.

The engineering behind this set is utter incompetence. I’ve built and rebuilt the bow 5 times and it falls apart every time.
I’ve never hated building a set more, I think I’ll take a break from buying more legos as a result.
If I could feed this terrible set of bricks to the jaws shark itself, I would. Happily.
Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!

Disappointed by a set for the first time

I fell into LEGO fast and hard over the last 20 months- having gone from zero sets to 30 in that time period.
Each has provided me with an immense amount of joy (despite occasional moments of frustration when running into a provierbial “brick wall”). This is the first set that I was truly disappointed by.
The idea is fun and campy, but the execution is poor. I found several of the elements to not really fit well together or that the small pieces got in the way.
And then add the whole aspect of compiling the boat on the ocean foundation at a weird angle and then questionable decision of building the whole shark only to rip him in half (is there a thoughtful way to display the literal “tail end” of a demonic sea monster?) just didn’t seemed well thought out.
It suffered because I’ve come to know Lego as a maker of wonderfully whimsically and thoughtfully designed sets. Unfortunately this one sunk to the bottom of the ocean.

Build not so great

Building this set was a little frustrating. Many parts, especially in bag 4, the pieces were falling off as I built the substructure. I had to resort to glueing a few pieces to make things stable. The finished set looks good.

The JAWS set 21350

I have completed many Lego sets (over 75) from the colosseum to the Eiffel Tower etc. I found this the most frustrating set I have ever constructed. There was very little support pieces. I’ve read about those ‘little blue pieces’ in the bow. (I ended up using museum wax to hold them.) I found the whole kit hard to put together. Any pressure you used to connect pieces would cause other pieces to come apart. I normally let my 5 year old grandson to look, touch and ask questions. Not with this piece. Too fragile. P.S. I loved the movie
